@anneliesedodds we want to show you what young people can do!

We are the local team, to Oxford, of Green New Deal Rising. We are a youth climate movement.

We have taken on this dis-used planter in the aid to improve this area!

Also, this was done to show that young people want jobs that improve the country, environment and the planet.

Some already have the skills, some want the training and we'd like to see the government creating and showing young people green, clean, fairly paid climate jobs!

Check out out petition or find out more about Green New Deal Rising on our linktree.

🚨 JACKDAW APPROVED. ROSEBANK IN DOUBT. WHAT DOES THIS TELL US? @ed_miliband

Two North Sea projects. Two different decisions. One enormous question about Britain's energy future.

The UK Government has approved the Jackdaw gas field. Meanwhile, reports suggest the Energy Secretary is leaning towards rejecting Rosebank.

But here's the question that matters to millions of people:

WHO REALLY BENEFITS FROM BRITAIN'S ENERGY DECISIONS AND WHO PAYS THE PRICE?

Energy security matters. Jobs matter. Household bills matter. So does our climate and the future inherited by the next generation.

The public deserves more than political promises. It deserves transparent evidence about energy prices, economic benefits, public investment and the consequences of continued fossil-fuel dependence.

With the 28 October Budget approaching, the Government must explain how its decisions will deliver affordable energy, secure employment and a credible transition to cleaner power.

🌍 Climate justice cannot stop at Britain's borders. The consequences of today's energy decisions extend far beyond the North Sea.

💬 THE QUESTION FOR YOU:

Can Britain genuinely lead on climate action while approving new fossil-fuel developments or is there a better way to protect energy security, jobs and household finances?

Despite overwhelming evidence that we must move away from oil and gas, @uklabour has approved the opening of the Jackdaw gas field.

This project won't cut energy bills, will do little to improve energy security and will only create a handful of jobs, all whilst causing catastrophic climate damage.

The UN has told us that breaching 1.5 degrees of warming is imminent and that meeting the lowest-possible overshoot scenario would require a tripling of renewable electricity capacity by 2035, and dramatic cuts to fossil fuels. When will the UK Government start placing our futures above the wants of Trump and oil lobbyists?

The energy secretary is yet to announce their decision on Rosebank, the UK’s largest undeveloped oil field, which would release 254 million tonnes of CO2, the equivalent of 70% of the UK’s entire annual carbon emissions.

For the sake of a liveable future, it is more vital than ever to take action. Sign the petitions. Write to your MP. Take to the streets ✊✊✊

Burnham bows to the climate-vandal-in-chief by opening up new drilling in Jackdaw gas field. This won’t lower bills but will exacerbate the climate crisis. We must now stop the Govt approving the Rosebank oil field.

Our reaction, covered in the Standard today: “Donald Trump says ‘drill, baby, drill’ – now, sadly, the British government is capitulating to his agenda, even in the face of heatwaves and wildfires.

“This decision will not lower energy bills. It will only exacerbate the climate crisis and enrich the fossil fuel companies profiteering from it.

“Meanwhile, the British public are bearing the brunt: thousands of premature deaths from extreme heat, food prices on the rise, and transport infrastructure breaking apart.

“Andy Burnham should not continue Keir Starmer’s failed strategy of appeasing Donald Trump. A different approach is needed: one that works with international partners to stand up to Trump and put people and the planet first.” Join @stopcambo @fossilfreelondon and more to protest this decision - more details to follow!

Breaking news: Labour has approved Jackdaw.

This is a climate disaster. Let them know we won't stand for it & that Rosebank is not an option outside DESNZ today. We need investment in renewable and more green jobs, not a future tied into oil & gas.

Share this like wildfire. We WON our court case against the previous governments decision to approve Rosebank. The ruling is on the side of our earth, our futures. We won’t go down without a fight.

Furious and heartbroken to wake up to this news this morning.

How many times do we need to be warned this is an existential crisis before our political leaders start doing things differently?

This is a huge betrayal of all of us - but especially of the next generation. The ones who had no part in causing this mess, but will be the ones who have to deal with it - the heatwaves, water shortages, crop failures, wars and huge population displacement.

Approving Jackdaw will not lower energy bills. It will not improve our "energy sovereignty". It will do nothing except signal that the climate crisis isn't the devastating impending catastrophe that it is.

This government should be utterly ashamed of itself.

Approving Jackdaw is a false promise.
It's a distraction from what is really needed.
It's the consequence of corporate lobbying by the oil and gas industry who want to make a quick buck at our expense.
We need more investment in renewables and to break our obsession with oil and gas.

Only then can we start bringing down bills.
