Peachtree Road Race Expo & Run Club Weekend! 🍑🌳🇺🇸

The biggest running weekend of the year is here! Whether you’re heading to the expo, meeting up with your run club, or getting ready to tackle the world’s largest 10K, here’s how to beat the heat and enjoy every mile.

🔥 My top 10 Peachtree tips:

1. Freeze your hydration bottles the night before. Freeze one water and one electrolyte drink, but leave a little space so they can expand.
2. Freeze a small towel. Bring it with you and soak it again at hydration stations to cool your neck, arms, and face.
3. Got long hair? Wash it before the race and leave it damp. It can help keep you cooler in the early miles.
4. Wearing a hat? Get it wet before the start and again along the course.
5. Hydrate today and fuel with carbs. Race day starts the day before.
6. Replace your electrolytes. Salt tabs or a hydration drink with sodium and potassium can make a huge difference in the Georgia heat.
7. Adjust your expectations. This isn’t the race to chase a PR. Slow down, smile, high-five the crowds, and enjoy one of the best running events in the world.
8. Celebrate history. You’re running during America’s 250th birthday celebration. 🇺🇸
9. Be part of Peachtree history. For 57 years, this incredible race has welcomed around 60,000 runners from all 50 states and more than 30 countries. You’re part of something special.
10. Most importantly… HAVE FUN! 🤩

See you at the expo, see you with the run clubs, and see you on the start line. Let’s put a smile in the miles! 🍑🌳💙

Watching the grandson run, and the Peachtree expo was fun!

Both were hot!🥵

This is what the 4th of July holiday looks like in Atlanta.

Congrats Jayce! We’re super proud of you. Medal and @runningwithprecision ribbon secured! 🦾

I went for a walk after breakfast. Primarily to check out the Coast Guard Marathon Weekend Expo location. It's about 2.6 miles from my Hotel.

I walked the Mariners' Wharf, where I met Mark. He's a local resident out getting his morning walk in. As we talked, he got a kick out of me coming "all the way from Tuscaloosa Alabama" as he said it. To run their local marathon. He told me about area, the weather, etc..,. He really made me feel welcomed in his City. Its so good to see folks proud of their hometown.

Then I grabbed some coffee at the Kraken Coffee House. I met Mike. He's a Army Veteran and will be running his first Marathon Sunday! It was so cool talking to him about my races. Also him sharing his Spartan Racing experiences and biking. We probably talked for a good hour. God sure has blessed me to meet so many Awesome Folks for sure.

Then I went to the Recycled Reader Book Store, which was just across the street. I picked up Superman Birthright Part 2;DC Comics Graphic Novel Collection, The Ghost of Blackwood Hall; A Nancy Drew Mystery Collection (which is an older book, reminding me of my younger pre-teen years), and The Pop-UpbLittle Orhan Annie and Jumbo, the Circus Elephant. I got it, just for the nostalgia.

Oh, I got a good chuckle seeing this Beaver swimming on the walk back to the Hotel. 😂
Packet Pick-Up is from 3pm-7pm. So I'll rest and hydrate before driving over this evening.

Picked up my Bibb for the Tuscaloosa Half-Marathon, which will be my 110th Half-Marathon!!! Wooohoooo Wooohoooo Wooohoooo 😜

I ran into 🤭 (no pun intended) an MBUSI Work Colleague, Celest. Way back when I first started running, she was one of the fastest and steadiest runners at the Plant. It was so good talking with her and sharing a little of our story. It was a blessing to see her for sure.

I also got a chance to see one of my Atlanta Peeps, Whitney!!! If it wasn't for her mentioning that she ran the Tuscaloosa Half with her Mom last year. I probably wouldn't have thought about signing up. Whitney has been on fire with her running the last couple of years. All of her hard work and consistently showing up has been rewarded with PR after PR. She's totally Awesome, a blessing to see her as well.

I'm looking forward to the race tomorrow. Seeing the changes to the course since the last time I ran Tuscaloosa in 2022. Just going to soak it all in. Treat it like a longrun. The main thing is to have fun, and finish healthy for sure. 💖

I meet the most Amazing, Beautiful and Inspirational folks.

During my walk this morning. I met this kind soul, Chesta. He's a Retired Bermuda Bus Driver. He also happens to be 80 years young, as he would say. I noticed while walking people kept blowing their horns, and screaming Good Morning Chesta!!! I eventually stopped to talk with this Amazing Gentleman.
First off, he gave me the grandest hug. Then introduced himself. He shared his most wonderful and delightful story. I told him that I could feel his energy. He said "Yours too!!! Young Man!!! Yours too!!!
Later this evening. I met the nicest young Lady, Kay, (Keatua) I'm not sure I'm spelling it right, but it means love. We were both sitting at the Bar. We hit it off right away, both sharing our journeys and passion. She teaches Art to kids. I could feel her love for her craft and family. Also, she showed me some of the things she's working on, she also makes her on lotion and cosmetic products. The fragrance and feel was Amazing. I also got a chance to meet her Boyfriend, who's also Amazing. We had the most wonderful conversation.
One thing for sure about Bermuda, the folks welcome you with open arms. My new greeting is "Have a Bermudiful Morning" 😊🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

Update: correct spelling of Kay's name "Kayuntae" 🙏🏾💖

Race Retreat Bermuda 10k, my 20th 10k, is officially in the books! We had such an Awesome and Amazing Time.

We were shuttled to the start at the Hamilton Beach Club at 5:30am. This allowed us to see the beautiful Bermuda Sunrise. It was breathtaking for sure.

The race was Hilly, lol. We all joked and teased Tes about bringing the hills from Atlanta to Bermuda. Ha Ha Ha

It was an Awesome Turn-Out of local runners from Bermuda as well. Oh, I actually finished 1st Place for 10k American Male Finisher. Wooohoooo Wooohoooo Wooohoooo (🤭 I was the only American Male Finisher, but a win is a win).

Tes had all of us Bermuda Finishers Plunge into the bay. It was so cold, but totally Awesome!!! This will be a Unique Finisher vibe for sure. I'm definitely coming back next year.

There were race photographers at the start, on the course and the finish area. Tes mentioned that photos should be ready by Monday. I'll share as soon as they are available.

Walked around the City this morning, after that big breakfast.

I ran into Chrystal, she's a runner. She runs all over the world. She's Awesome!!! She's also a part of Tes's Bermuda Connection Task Force Group. That's making plans for next year's 2027 Race Retreat in Bermuda. It'll be a both a social gathering, along with seminars, training and daily running activities along with a 5k/10 Racing Event that Saturday.

I walked to Book Store, also the Rock City Cafe for a nice Latte.

Everyone is super friendly and nice. The weather is so beautiful 60°-68° 🌞. The night sky is also breathtaking, I can see why sailors are so passionate about Stary Nights.
