After warm-ups and director notes, Kyle stepped into the vocal booth for pro-level tracking. 🎶
Under our Vocal Director’s guidance, he honed his phrasing on the English pre-chorus and practiced blending in the Korean lines:
“Chalnaui banjjagim… Ijeneun kkeuti nasseo”

With real-time feedback from our Vocal Director, he learned to match the crisp brightness of NCT DREAM’s youthful timbre and HRVY’s smooth tone. 🎹

The booth’s high-end mic captured every nuance, while our Vocal Director directed retakes just like an SM Entertainment session:

🔁 “Try it again, punch ‘Ye ye ye’ with more attitude!”

Within 2 hours, Kyle laid down a powerful take that soared through the booth.

SPELLING BEE!! where do i begin?? what an amazing experience and what amazing people, very hard to simply say goodbye to this one :,)

i’ve been letting this post marinate for a hot sec because i have SO much to say (and finals were kicking my butt). at the end of the day i am a yapper and the extreme feeler final boss, so here’s the part where i do that! not to be dramatic (but like this is theater so i will be), but this was truly a transformative experience for me. it was a leap of faith — not because i didn’t trust the artistic direction of our extremely talented directors, the incredible crew, or the endless talent of my cast mates, but because i didn’t trust myself. i was riddled with self-doubt and imposter syndrome as i stepped into the cast of this musical, and to learn to let that melt away as this beautiful show took shape was so freeing (the freedom of not living up to imagined expectations? sounds familiar…). I couldn’t have asked for better people to be in community with, to learn from, to laugh with, and to put this show together with. you’ve shown me so much love, patience, and encouragement, and i can’t express how grateful and blessed i am to have received that. i’ve also treasured getting to know my fellow scotties in the production, you’ve all shown so much love and community from the day we all auditioned to the very end and i’m so so grateful for you all, love ya :) i’m overwhelmed by the support of friends and family that came out to see the show as well, you all are my heart! i will continue to be in awe of and so inspired by every person in this amazing cast and crew and their incredible talents and spirits. i could go on and on (and i’m sure i will at some point), but i’m so beyond grateful to have had this experience and to have been able to step into the cute little ballet flats of miss marcy park :) i may only remember the top ten but that’s ok because you’re all #1 in my heart :,))

looking at the winter theatre stage all empty makes me miss this show and everyone involved so much more, but i’m so lucky to have had an experience so wonderful that it will be missed so sorely. i hope to bee-unite with you all sometime soon :)
