— an excerpt from my poem, Bloom
Raven F.
Part of an ongoing series. Full poems coming soon.

I watched myself bloom
through the silent tremor of nightfall.

A field of spider lilies
stretched beyond remembrance.

I drifted weightless,
searching for beauty
where chaos learned how to sing.

Perhaps I always knew.

The glow was always there.

I only needed
to remember where to look.

At long last, The Floor is complete and has been sent to distribution outlets with a release date of September 15th. This is one of my finest works to date, illustrating how I’ve learned to reclaim the dance floor as a tool for joy, where I had once seen it as a backdrop for trauma and exclusion. In addition, the process behind this album comes in the wake of the slump that defined my previous album, in which I struggled to find sources of inspiration.

The artwork comes from a painting I made with digital editing by @dreambreeder_079 . I feel that the distribution of the colors represent the essence of the floor in an abstract way, but I needed somebody like Dreambreeder_079 to help me realize my vision in a more concrete fashion. I am extraordinarily grateful for their help and this is a better album because of it.

I am also incredibly grateful to all the people I became close with over the last two years who have made me realize my potential not just as a musician, but as an artist. Of them are many but wanted to give specific mention to the above as well as @abbyrharr @whateveradolfo @maniacalgroove @godhole0000 @dvnce.boi @hannah.albin @dr.mr.man @lyle_rea_drums @mattbedoya @latinacroft and also the fellas in @guyscrapers and @itsdeathdrive . All of you are not only sick at what you do, but your presence makes me feel like I’m part of something. That is ultimately what The Floor is about.
