OMG, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR 2K FOLLOWERS! 🎉 This is CRAZY. I can’t believe that another 1000 of you wonderful human beings have joined the liljems family in such a short space of time. I don’t post photos of myself very often, but just wanted to refresh your memory of the face behind this account! 🙈💓

I first started this food blog four and a half months ago, during the pressure of the current COVID-19 situation, struggle of finding another job and a period of general dissatisfaction with my life, as a way to document my food adventures and express myself.
.
I never realised just how much food blogging embodied everything I’ve ever liked - food discovery, restaurant research, reviewing, cooking, recipe creation, collaborations, creative writing, photography, styling etc. THIS IS AS ME AS IT GETS. My food blog is my baby and I absolutely adore her.
.
Before, I forced consistency - I pushed myself to post regularly, to grow my following and engagement and constantly compared my page to all the beautiful accounts out there. But now, I’m so happy to just experiment and freely be myself on here! Some days you’ll find that my tone is super happy and bouncy, others more mellow and, when I’ve woken up on the wrong side of the bed, it’s just pure b*tch mode - for me, this is literally my food DIARY and that only works if it’s ME. 🙋🏻‍♀️

SO all that being said, I just wanted to thank all of you for sticking it through with me while I figure things out and being so patient, kind and supportive. THANK YOU to every single one of you who love my baby enough to follow her journey, nourish her with all the love and support that you have and continue to watch her grow! I appreciate it and love you all so much always! 💖

Tagged by the delightful @gohanjami to recreate a beloved childhood dish, I present to you steamed + stuffed fuzzy squash, a gourd with a mild, sweet taste and a peak season of July/August. This is still one of my favorite things to eat in the summer— I stuffed it with ground chicken and shiitake mushrooms and topped it with a conpoy + soy sauce glaze. I nominate @alexaeatsnsees and @i.soy.you.cooking to recreate a favorite childhood go-to!
