A figure mid-spin, caught between black and white and something more alive. Goingpolaroid shoots on B&W iType then adds color by hand ; teal, red, gold bleeding across the frame like the motion itself left a mark. The result sits somewhere between photograph and painting, between a memory and an invention.

If this hand colored work speaks to you, follow goingpolaroid.

ONLINE CLASS: POLAROID STUDIO (Level 2): Advanced Practice & Project Development

Instructor: Jari Poulin
🗓 March 3 – July 21

This advanced Polaroid class is designed for artists who already work with Polaroid and are ready to deepen their practice and develop a sustained project.

The class runs 4,5 month with 6 group session, and 2 one-on-one meetings, allowing ample time between sessions for experimentation, reflection, and production, mirroring the rhythm of a professional studio practice.

The images shown here are from one of Jari Poulin’s latest projects, where she used expired Polaroid film to capture her garden changes from summer to fall.

She writes:
“I am finding more worlds to build in my gardens as the flora and fauna of summer and fall slowly fade into their winter torpor. I am enjoying constructing these worlds and photographing them with my Polaroid camera. If I were an ant or a spider, I think I would like hanging out right here for a while.”

Jari photographed daily with her Polaroid i-2 camera and expired film, exploring scale, intimacy, and imagined spaces. This project evolved into a wonderful book called The Cosmos Garden.

This class is for artists ready to go further with Polaroid; slowly, intentionally, and with depth.
