Macrame Across Borders 2.0 🪢

Postcard from Ibadan 🇳🇬

I came to Ibadan to teach, to share, to impact and, most importantly, to bring people together through macramé and craft.

But beyond the workshop itself, my biggest takeaway from this trip is a simple saying:

“I water you, you water me.” — while I came with something to give, I left with so much too.

Sometimes you show up thinking you’re coming to teach, share your knowledge or create an experience for others, only to realise that you’re also learning, receiving and being poured into too.

Connection is not one-sided. This is at the heart of what Macramé Across Borders represents.

For me, craft is not just about what we make with our hands. It’s also about the people we meet, the conversations we have, the perspectives we shift and the courage we spark in someone to try something new, see themselves differently or take a step they may not have taken before.

Thank youuu to the 13 beautiful ladies who showed up and opened themselves up to learning something new! I’m especially grateful to @goodomen.ng for allowing me to be part of the Made to Keep journey in Ibadan.

Thank you, Ibadan, for pouring into me too.

We tried out a macramé workshop over the weekend, where we learnt how to hand-make our own bags. 👜✨

The workshop was beginner-friendly and gave us the chance to learn the basics of macramé while creating something we could actually take home and keep. It cost ₦45,000 per person and included everything we needed to make our bags.

Macramé Across Borders 2.0 🪢

Sometimes, it’s the simplest things that remind us how connected we really are – and suddenly, people who may have never crossed paths before are sitting around the same table, creating something together.

This time around, we came together with Omenogor of @goodomen.ng Ibadan, in a beautiful collaboration for her Made to Keep: Macramé Workshop Experience.

Two creatives with a shared belief in the quiet power of art and craft to connect people, create community and open up new possibilities.

And what a beautiful coming together it was!

Despite all the knocks and little hurdles along the way, we made it happen — and somehow, it turned out to be one of our liveliest gatherings yet. There was so much banter, laughter and ease in the room, and the ladies came ready to learn, make and simply enjoy the moment. It truly became one for the books.
