Monday was another @mdandersoncancercenter MD Anderson Cancer Center appointment —my fourth trip in recent weeks up the I-10 corridor to Houston.

The first few times, I’ve made that drive with a good bit of apprehension—fear of the unknown, uncertainty about what lay ahead, and all the emotions that come with a cancer diagnosis. Yet every single visit, I left with a beautiful assurance that God had been walking beside me. He’s been showing up in unexpected, tender ways that remind me I’m not on this journey alone. Truly, AWE isn’t a big enough word.

As you know, Monday’s weather was dicey and that drive up I-10 can be tedious—add pouring rain to the mix. But this trip, something changed.

Somewhere along I-10, as we were weaving through the downpour and around the big rigs, it hit me like a bolt of lightning. I wasn’t dreading the appointment anymore. In fact, I found myself looking forward to it—not because I was excited to meet with a surgeon, but because I couldn’t wait to see how God was going to show up this time.

When we pulled into the drive at the Mays Building, I stepped out of the car and slipped my hand into my pocket because I felt something there. I rarely use pockets, so I was surprised to feel something inside.

I pulled out a tiny little Jesus figurine.

The tears came instantly.

A sweet friend from church, Jonnica, had given it to me weeks ago. I had tucked it into the pocket of these pants one Sunday and completely forgotten about it. The funny thing is, I hardly ever wear this pair because they have to be dry cleaned. I had grabbed them at the last minute before leaving for Houston that morning.

There He was....His message was loud and clear!

The words that keep coming to mind are ‘tender mercies.’

As Psalm 103 says, ‘He crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies.’ God is so faithful!

I continue to remember all of you in my prayers, am so grateful for yours, and hoping God shows up for you in unexpected ways today. Sending love! ❤️ 🙏🏻 😃

“Always on Time.” He is.

The biopsy I wasn’t looking forward to this week is behind me now, and once again, it’s so clear that God goes before me.

If you’ve ever been to the @mdandersoncancercenter in H-town, you know the dramatic escalators that carry you into the heart of the hospital. As I rode up this week …see more

Only God could transform an early, intimidating, Sunday morning MRI appointment @mdandersoncancercenter in Houston into something beautiful.

A few weeks ago, I learned that I have a malignant breast tumor. Many of you have walked this road, so you know the unbelievable rush of emotions that immediately begin swirling through your mind—and yes, the fear.

When I found out last week that I would need yet another MRI with contrast and biopsy, and that my MRI was scheduled for 7:00 a.m. today—the Sunday morning after July 4th—I wasn’t thrilled. But I also knew the only way through this process was to keep moving forward.

Sitting and waiting in the tiny prep room, I realized my church’s 8:00 a.m. service was about to begin. I grabbed my phone and earbuds and started watching. Just then, the MRI technologist came to take me back. She apologized for interrupting my phone time, and I laughed, telling her I was simply tuning into my church service.

Then she asked, “Would you like to listen to it while you’re in there?” I was stunned by the offer. I later learned this beautiful girl goes by the name of “Gucci.”

Gucci offered to pull up the livestream on her computer and connect it to the MRI headset. I watched as she adjusted settings, found the volume controls, and brought up Community Bible ChurchCBC’s website. I was stunned that she took the time to make that happen for me.
For the next 30 minutes while lying inside…(continued in comments)
