I did something I never thought I’d do - I’ve completed my Advanced Diploma in Counselling Practice. 🎉

After two years of hard work, dedication, reading, reflection (and plenty of moments of doubt), I’m proud to say I’ve completed my qualification. 🙏

It’s been challenging, deeply rewarding, and humbling all in equal measure. ❤️

This journey has taught me so much about counselling, about holding space for others, and about myself. The depth and breadth of knowledge and application of skills is mind blowing! There is so much to learn, consider and reflect on as a therapist. 🤔

My plan wasn’t to become a therapist, I felt coaching would allow me to do the purpose led work I desired, but I realised that I wanted to work at a deeper level, especially when it came to working with trauma – a topic close to my heart.💜

I went back and forth for 3 years before taking the plunge, it was walking into a room to see a reflexologist and out of the blue she told me I need to make the decision about my career change otherwise it won’t happen, and she asked me, what is it a therapist? This was pretty spooky but it gave me the nudge I needed - I haven’t regretted it once! 🎯

I have thoroughly enjoyed the learning and growth process. I’m grateful to everyone who supported me along the way — tutors, peers, friends, and family, especially my husband 💕 The encouragement and cheering me on has made all the difference. ❣️

The last weekend of studies landed on my birthday weekend, so it made it extra special.

The day after, I started my second student placement to complete my 100 hours to get the formal sign off as a therapist, I am pleased to say I have completed 27%!

So in 2025, I will be full qualified and commence my private practice! 💫

My own journey with mental illness and therapy will be informing my work, and allow for meaningful connections with clients. I’m excited for what comes next. This is just the beginning, watch this space!
