Next Wednesday, we’re turning the kitchen over to someone very special.

On August 12th for one evening only, Graham’s mom Peggy Markel, will be cooking along side us.

If you’ve spent any time with us, you’ve probably heard of Graham’s mom, a renowned world traveler and chef. Many of the recipes and traditions that inspired Stazione and Buona Notte and started in her kitchen.

It’s not often you get to experience someone’s home cooking in a bar, and we’re so excited to share a little piece of the Markel family with you. Plus some of Peggy’s favorite magnums!

What can I say about this woman. She is a force. She has always followed her heart, and her sense of adventure. She raised my brother and I to dream big. I am so lucky to have her as a mama. She is loving, and generous, and down right fun. What she has created with her @gowithpeggy adventures is nothing short of magical. She is hard working, and passionate, and boy do I lover her.

The @tajlakepalace sits in the middle of lake Pichola with a view of the surrounding water and the city Palace of Udaipur. We arrive by boat and are ushered to the entrance by a mustached footman with a fringed brocade umbrella. As we approach the door rose petals fall on our heads in a delightful unexpected ritual of welcome.

After a celebratory evening of traditional Rajasthani dance in the courtyard and an elegant meal that we helped prepare with our chef friends in the Neel Kamal, we said our goodbyes. I felt a moment of content sitting on the veranda. Not a bad place to read the paper and relax. It had been a good trip. Always a sigh of relief. I took in the view, feeling appreciative and in awe of where I was.
