We officially cut the ribbon to start the celebration—and Daiso’s lovable kawaii mascot, Daizo, made a super special appearance! ❤️🛍️

The grand reopening celebration is still going strong, so stop by, say hi to Daizo, and stock up on all your favorites!

Parts of Japantown is experiencing a power outage including businesses along Osaka Way and parts of Post Street.

AMC Kabuki Theatre, Kinokuniya, Japan Center East and West Malls have power.

If you have dinner reservations at any restaurants outside the malls, please do call ahead to see if they are open.

We’re all hoping PG&E can get this resolved quickly.

What a beautiful day at the Presidio celebrating Chuseok!

Friends of Indonesia was grateful that APA Heritage Foundation share their booth with us this year. We reconnect with old friends, and make new ones while sharing a little of Indonesian culture and AAPI Heritage Month awareness.

From the performances and food to the lively crowds, there was so much joy all around. Congratulations to Korean Center, Inc. on another wonderful festival, and thank you for bringing our communities together. We loved being part of it! 💛❤️🤍

Katsura Garden has officially been designated as an S.F. Legacy Business—making it the 15th historic staple in Japantown to receive this incredible honor! 🌿✨

Originally established in 1974 by founder Nobuyuki Yoshimura, this beloved plant and bonsai shop celebrated its 50th year in 2024. Longtime employee Ritsuko Suzuki took over as owner in 2018, continuing a tradition of expertise, warmth, and dedication that makes Katsura Garden a true Japantown treasure.

Huge congratulations to Ritsuko and her team on this well-deserved milestone!

Special thanks to the Historic Preservation Commission, Small Business Commission, Michelle Reynolds (S.F. Legacy Business Program), Nikki Yoshikawa, and the Japantown Community Benefit District for guiding and supporting Katsura Garden throughout the process. 🙌
