GWHS’s Class of 1979 lost one of our eagles, Retired Deputy Chief Ann Manix. Our hearts go out to her children and family.

Throughout the years I was able to stay in touch with her as she also served as Northern Station’s Captain. We were so proud to see her climb the ranks and every time I saw her at events we would chant “Go Eagles!”

The Nihonmachi Street Fair has always brought together awesome musicians from various genres. That’s what makes Street Fair special.

Today at the Nihonmachi Street Fair’s Jtown Funk, Sayonara Picnic brought a new audience and OG’s like Paul Yonemura, Frank Martin, Bob Kenmotsu and Timmy Leong continue to create music that soothes the soul.

Special shout out to Steve Nakajo who helped us assemble today’s artists❤️
Gotta be grateful.

AND I could not have done this without the hard working SFFD Cadets who helped me all day!

Tomorrow (Sunday 10/4) the Nihonmachi Street Fair brings back the Jtown Funk Pop-Up performance!

Performing LIVE on Osaka Way starting at 1pm: Sayonara Picnic, Paul Yonemura Band, and Fourum!

You’ll see some legends in R&B and jazz, faces that you’ve seen at the annual Nihonmachi Street Fair mixed in with some new faces.

Some come on down to Jtown and grab a seat for some dang great performances!🎶

FYI there’s a lot going on in the City so get here early, grab a bite and meet us at the Jtown Gate😉 It’s gonna be warm so bring some water to stay hydrated too!

Daiso Japantown Grand Reopening Celebration! 🎉✨

We had an incredible morning celebrating Daiso’s Grand Reopening! Daiso USA CEO Tomohiro Takao welcomed everyone to the new space, along with special congratulatory remarks from Keijiro Hora (Executive Director, Japanese Chamber of Commerce N. CA) and Grace Horikiri (Executive Director, Japantown Community Benefit District).

We officially cut the ribbon to start the celebration—and Daiso’s lovable kawaii mascot, Daizo, made a super special appearance! ❤️🛍️

The grand reopening celebration is still going strong, so stop by, say hi to Daizo, and stock up on all your favorites!
