So if you ever decide to walk the Cotswold Way just know that you are going to get up close and personal with more cows than you ever thought possible. Why? Because unlike the United States, where you’ll get shot if you hop over fence or go through a gate, in England public right of ways go right through some random farmers field. So you were hopping more fences and going through more gates than you ever thought possible. And in most cases, you are mingling with the livestock. Cows, baby cows, more and more cows. Apparently “death by cow” is a thing in the Cotswolds…. I don’t know how damn dumb you have to be to experience “death by cow” because as long as you stay away from the babies, and you give them the good bits of grass that they can’t get from the other side of the fence, you’re pretty good. #cotswoldway

There was always another mountain…. In some cases, 3-4 a day. The urge to throw yourself/roll down the mountain is real. And no, my photos don’t do it justice. They were much steeper. #cotswold #cotswoldway

OK, so it wasn’t 500 miles but 102 or 103 miles (depending on the source). Did the Cotswold Way and my feet have never hurt so bad. Saw sheep (so many sheep), cows, horses, a swan with anger issues (too busy jumping over a fence to get a picture), and a half-tamed pheasant. Was it a walk in the park? Nope. There are hills folks, there are hills. Every village is in a valley that you have to go down into and that you have to climb out of the next day. Two hills minimum … some days three. Are they like the Alps? Again, no. So probably not a big deal if you live in Colorado, and you hike trails all the time, but if you are a suburbanite living somewhere in central United States, you are going to hate your life by the third day. However, the body does adapt, and then you only slightly hate your life from days four through 12. Got to see a dead king, a dead queen, the start of the river Thames, beautiful towns and villages, and more dogs than I have ever thought possible. Sat in awesome pubs and ate some of the best pub food. And chatted with some of the nicest people(and hosts) I have ever met (and that is saying a lot for this introvert). So if you have 12 days to spend, and you feel like checking something off your bucket list try the #cotswoldway #englandtravel #cotswold
Try not to curse as much as me.
