Gingerbread season is almost here, and this year marks 17 years of Warm-A-Heart Gingerbread. 🍪

It all starts at Ellie’s during the last week of October, when the baking begins. Then, the first week of November, volunteers from our community come together to help us assemble thousands of gingerbread decorating kits.

It’s one of our favorite traditions, and we’d love for you to be part of it. ❤️

School is back in session in Providence! Our city is home to so many great universities, including @jwuprovidence, @risd1877, @brownu, and more. Whether it’s your first time away from home, you’re a returning college student, or you’re in grad school, welcome!

Here’s our little guide to the downtown Providence neighborhood. There’s so much to choose from, but this is a selection of the places we find ourselves at the most.

COFFEE SHOPS IN PROVIDENCE: if you’re looking for an off-campus breakfast or a place to study, we’ve got you. We adore @elliesprov @smallpointcafe @boltcoffeeco and @littlecitypvd.

LUNCH IN PROVIDENCE: there’s a little bit of everything for lunch downtown, from pretzel sandwiches at @maltedbarleyprovidence to Thai food at @phedphedpvd. We also recommend @cielitomexicankitchen @rollers_pvd @suraprovidence and @suyajointprov.

GROCERIES IN PROVIDENCE: while there are large chain grocery store options in the city, we love the unique selections in our neighborhood. From Japanese offerings at @maruichiprovidence, to deli sandwiches made to order at @serendipitygourmet173, you can find us grabbing a quick lunch or snack at either.

SHOPPING SMALL IN PROVIDENCE: the indie shops on historic Westminster Street truly make downtown so special! Shop for clothing at @queenofheartsandmodernlove or @thevaultri; books at @symposiumbooks; shoes and skate equipment at @civilprovidence; gifts and art at @craftland and @homestyleri; wine (if you’re 21+) at @enofinewines; or brighten up your dorm or apartment with fresh flowers from @jephry_floral_studio.

Labor day weekend. Day 1 Providence.

17k steps later we’ve seen everything from Atheneum Library to Brown University and all the cute little streets in between. It got me thinking about my college days! Had lunch at Bellini and took a gondola ride to say hi to swans and duckies!!! Finished the night at Gracie’s and watched water fire festival on the river. Onto the next destination…
