SCOTSTOUN Stadium...The summer Commonwealth Games, just missed the tropical heatwave Scotland and Glasgow had recently, as it heaved it down all evening...BUT, with Games AND countries' National Records broken, horrendous weather couldn't and didn't stop the enthused athletes.
Pouring rain, 10:05pm, near empty stadium... Australians Eleanor Patterson (pictured celebrating with fans late into the evening) and Nicola Olyslagers took the top two spots on the eventual podium as Eleanor took Gold and Nicola the Silver in a hotly (despite the poor July weather) contested Women's High Jump competition.
Good to meet up with my former boss and running partner Jane Rhodes Macadam before the rain came on...😎🤣

WHERE it all started for me listening to live music properly and accidentally on my 21st birthday pub crawl in 1982... Finsbury Flatiron (FF) on Woodlands Road, Charing Cross...formally, and probably better known by the 'Old school rockers' THE HALT...
The Michael Deans jazz band's second Sunday of the month jazz session and I 'just happened to have my rattles and shakers' with me!
Out with good friends Steve Garland and Janice Morrison for the sesh and good to bump into friends Andrea Cunningham and James Hamilton fir a chat before Michael gave me the nod to whip out my Guiro! (Leave it)...Watermelon Man got scraped even though Morph (Kevin Dobie) lead guitar and John Spiers Lead Bass, didn't get the track memo before I started lol but lead drummer Sandro Ciancio did and we percussed for a few bars before we all got on with it... fabulous and a privilege to get up alongside these pros... and Mickey on Lead Sax... 🥰
And later I backed Lead vocalist Linda Fletcher on my shaker ... it was a fab afternoon with great food and Laphroaig (s) and I'm very grateful to Mickey and his band 😊

THE 'JONNY and RAY' Clutha Blues Jam goes ahead in the famous Glasgow pub on the Clydeside on the First Sunday of the month- 4pm start...
Jammers welcome - as was a wee chubby percussionist at the back!
Thanks to Jonny McGiffen (Lead vocals and lead acoustic guitar) and 'Ray' aka Ike Malinki (Lead Bass) (Of Blue Milk) for making me feel so welcome and part of the set up from the beginning.
And to Connor Docherty for his Lead leccy guitar work ... then there were the fabulous 'jammers' doing their thing singing and playing and generally adding to a sunny afternoon in the Clutha.
The Clutha Bar
Thanks to good friend Steve Garland who took the photos and the videos.
Ray sent more vids I'll put up soon too with other cracking musicians performing.
And obviously thanks to @mdenty95 for tweaking the sound I made lol 😆

THAT time I 'just happened' to have a wee bag of rattles with me in The Scotia and good pal Gus Munro was playing his fabulous solo set and whether he knew it or not, required a tambourine player to add a certain 'something' to Said solo set...! Lol 😆
Thanks man and thanks to Steve Garland for photos and videos ...
Never mind 'guitar melted faces' there's a melted tambo face as Milney tries to catch a time signature lol 😆

A WEE wander (possibly 10-12 miles 20k) around the many interesting and historical and at times eye opening sights of Nottingham city, with favourite son, Fraser Milne... after a liquid and pizza based evening the previous night, the fresh air around Robin Hood's statue and the castle and the canal and football stadia, did us the world of good...
