After four years our beauty rose from the ashes to put out what will be ………an iconic album. No this picture isn’t something I put together with AI. It’s what the Angelenos saw when they pulled off the freeway to head down town. Enough said @columbiarecords @spotify ❤️. We are blessed that you have wrapped your very large arms around our daughter. It was a team and a village (you all know who you are. Mellie and I have made our love and support very clear to all of you) and one VERY strong daughter and deeply profound and incredible artist that brought her words to life after having her soul handcuffed. I could post a littany of pics and vids from the release party Mellie and I were blessed to grace the audience at last night, but there are plenty out there that can be found ferociously posted by her Team, Friends and JAYDERS. But I won’t. This is about “Lover Girl”. An album that the JAYDERS have been longing for for Four years and I know will emblazingly embrace and along with other generations will wrap their head and ears around and see it as not only Ear Candy but a grappling line that will reach into the depths of your soul and attach itself to all of the Feelz and wake you up with wanting to blast it loud in your car for the world to hear or just sit in a bath or your most comfy space with your tissues and headphones on and wonder or while you sit with your girls and say “lm not crying you’re crying”. Because you will. Trust me. I’m not just Dad. I’m a true music listener. And this. This album. It’s a warm blanket for your Soul. So grab it and wrap yourself in it and allow its energy to not only heal you, but evolve you to getting YOU back to your “Lover Girl”❤️. Well done Baby Girl. Love Dad😎💕

Omg how did we get here?!

Desy had his first day of middle school and Remy had his last first day of middle school yesterday. Posted a whole group of photos so you can see what I deal with within their personality differences. Des did NOT want to smile. At all. He’s gotta be the “toughest” of the cutie little babies starting 6th. Meanwhile, Remy has to be the goofiest.

Remy is now a full foot taller than desy at 5’9” and he’s “trying to get to be 6’ by high school”. He’ll probably make it there too.

While it’s sad to say goodbye to our incredible summer, it was fun to get them ready for these monumental steps forward in two different schools. Yes, two different MIDDLE SCHOOLS.

Life is wild.

Probably the best 30 hour trip of our lives. If you’re bored this weekend, go see @nodoubt at @spherevegas. Final shows. Tempted to go back! Final slide was the best surprise though. Same place, same time, same love!

As a Dad and Mom it has been a long four years mentally, physically and more. AND and an even longer four for our girl. If you’re a parent……….you feel me. And if you’re not a parent, you can understand. Our Village grew stronger through the rise to this new Era and is unstoppable. AND our @lexijayde did not just sit in the ashes as a Phoenix, she sat in the fire, let the flames surround her, embraced it, and when her wings were singed, she grew new ones. Bigger Ones, more beautiful than ever and with a touch of Teflon 🔥 She now stands Tall through it all, wings spread so wide that the oxygen has been sucked out of the fire like a vacuum and she is now standing in the embers, sipping her head, eyes focused and shaking off the residual ashes. On June 5th the New Era begins as she slightly dips ….. extends her wings, pushes off and flys with the release of “You’re Still Mine”. JAYDERS……….you have no idea what is about ready to hit you 🪽. Let the Wind carry you baby girl. ❤️❤️❤️

Chain Reaction’s last show is today.

I’m so, so very sad. This venue has always felt like home. I spent countless nights here (almost every weekend as a teen) singing my heart out to my favorite bands, making new friends and just enjoying moments that felt safe and happy. I loved music long before I found Chain, but having the chance to experience it this closeup was life changing. I feel blessed to have been able to spend so much time here and it’s been beautiful to see how much it has touched not just me but so many others as well.

Thank you to @cmikedelillo for taking me here for the first time, to @caity.did and @nessm0nster91 for always being down to go to shows, to @shawny_pants for pulling me up onstage, to @filmspeedmusic @dearboyofficial @bristoltomemory @betawolf @royenglish for lovely friendships, to so many bands for the most wonderful shows but especially @theearlynovember @thespillcanvasofficial @thewonderyearsband @daphnelovesderby @thehighermusic ❤️‍🔥 And most importantly, thank you to @chainreactionca

I was able to stop by last weekend for one final show. The last lyrics I heard here were “when we were young” (@rathbonemusic) and nothing could be more fitting. Chain will always and forever be my favorite part of my youth and I will miss it for the rest of my life. 🥲

My heart is so heavy to write this. @chainreactionca you brought so many of the best times of my life, and gave me some of the best friendships I could have ever made. I can’t believe this is the end. I stood in this parking lot with @thebeautifulmistakeband for their first show in 2000, and the last one they played here just this summer. So special. But more so, so many with Takota, who became a weekly staple, to touring with. I mean, Justin taking us to Coachella so many years ❤️, @nckjenkin for driving us and showing us the UK, @andylikeswords @grantarnow @bjandros you three are still so special to me. ❤️ @ridebikes I mean, come on!! So many shows, so many amazing memories ❤️ Thank you to you for it all. And of course, Christian, who is no longer with us. You left us, but we will never forget. And the parking lot and backstage hold so many conversations that we will never ever forget. Let this not be the end to the music industry here. Anyone local have an aloe plant they want to share with a curious 10 year old?

Today I woke up with my hair all sorts of nuts looking. Desy saw me and said “mom, you have a bald spot. I will make you hair growth shampoo.” 1. Embarrassing and 2. Awwwww! He spent the day grinding rosemary with a mortar and pestle, then called all over the city to find someone who sold whole aloe leafs. We went to whole foods (of course) and got a leaf, he’s chopped it up, ground it up, and added it (with other pantry items to make the most incredible smelling “shampoo”. He’s showered twice already today, so my guess is that it’s time to grow our own aloe.

Anyone with pups or roots, or a deep leaf, is happily take it off your hands!

Long post to share some love ❤️ The music industry holds a very special place for me. So many nights at @chainreactionca growing up that we knew every single person who worked there. And we met so many amazing people and to this day, call them friends. Some even just recently reconnected with and I love it. I mean, those nights at @coachella. Am I right?! Or that SD festival @ridebikes when we ditched it to go watch the whole AFI show and Justin didn’t notice 🤫😂Some of these people I spent days, weeks, and even months of my life with in a van traveling. And it made me who I am and I love them for it. I mean traveling the UK with Takota 🥰 I have also made some memories with great new friends recently and that is why I love the music industry ❤️ The people are amazing. So thank you @andylikeswords @grantarnow @bjandros for taking me to the UK with you. You guys always have my love. @nckjenkin for all our crazy things on that trip!! But also for @thebeautifulmistakeband for starting it all off. @joshq32 @j_hagquist @_whatisjbdoing you boys showed me what so many great bands were and still are. Hanging back stage, carpark conversations (see what I did there (Takota ❤️) I mean I can go even further with of course @ericberumenmusic thank you for being you. Let’s not forget Sinai beach and Falling cycle. @iamloganlamb @seandurham And lastly to the new friends that have stood so many hours at the @boyslikegirls shows and events with me @scottberg and @jdcsc2073 and of course @derek_stays_afloat for the fun chats! Catalina and Newport Coast photo dump No. 1.

When you live somewhere like Los Angeles, you don’t even have to get on a plane to see world class locations and explore nature at its finest. You may just have to get on a boat.

This year we took a special trip to Catalina, followed by Newport Coast. It was magical. The kids caught (and released) upwards of 120 fish in 6 days, and fell in love with all the same things I fell in love with as a kid. Fishing, snorkeling, swimming, exploring ghost stories, movies at the casino, traipsing around @descansobeachclub, kayaking, finding remote beaches, eating ice cream on the boardwalk, guessing the color of the taffy, making friends on the pier, eating ceviche and crab… the list goes on.

Then it was home on a boat, back to Newport Coast and Laguna beach. Swimming, art fairs, good food with the grandparents, day dates with @patatack, concerts with @dcarterc, rest, sleep, and as many episodes of @wednesdaynetflix as we could stand. Alllllll the back to school shopping while out of town, so we didn’t have to do it when we got home.

Two weeks (for kids and I, for Grant it was more like 2 weeks of half days)! We got our vacation and our vacation from vacation. I think we all feel ready to get back to school now.
