@gratefulgabe80 my bro is out the ICU! 🙌🏽🔥. Still has to spend time rehabbing and continuing to get stronger but hopefully be home in the next week or two.

New coverall-protocol to make sure he stays healthy. 🙌🏽❤️‍🩹

Climbing the hill of recovery though. He had a long, good day. He looks and feels stronger. Less strain in each breath. Had a somewhat nasty coughing fit while I was there with some exorcist phlegm coming free which I guess is a good thing. 🤮 was able to catch his breathe without any additional assistance which is definitely a good thing. 🙏🏽

“Nurse Ratchet” as he calls her was busting him up with some tough love, pushing him to sit in the chair. He got there eventually but anyone that knows him knows what happens when you try to tell him what to do.🫨. He’s moving his legs and able to turn himself from side to side pretty easily now. Oh, the things we take for granted. 🫁 Sounds like tomorrow he’ll get the swallow test and magically be able to eat real food again.

Staring to resemble his normal self…I think we all are starting to get some sense of normalcy.

Many thanks to those that have come to see him and have donated to his go-fund-me. It’s helped him get a peace of mind being able to focus on his recovery. ❤️‍🩹

Back at it tomorrow. Trying to take over the world….one step at a time.

Today we conquered 2+ hours in the chair. 💪🏽

It took all his strength and 4 nurses to help him get up but he was able to stand, pivot, and sit down to catch his breath. 🙌🏽. Then he sat there for the next 2 hours and change holding steady on the bi-pap. Solid progress from yesterday where 10 minutes had him completely exhausted.

Baby steps…he’s primarily on the high flow O2 for the most part and is even able to take off the over-breather (additional mask) for much of the day while maintaining close to 90% oxidation.

Talked to the doc today and the next few weeks are rehab, rehab, rehab and staying clear of any additional infections which is a real concern as they’ve had to put him on a new antibiotic due to finding a different bacteria in a recent test. Part of the hazards of being in the ICU for so long with all the other critical patients. So if you’re visiting him, wash your hands and don’t come if you have any inclination of any symptom of illness. 🙏🏽

The recent CT scan did show severe damage and strain on the lungs. Time will tell if any of the damage is permanent but we’ll only know with time. “Progress is good but we’d love to see it be much faster”- well duh, doc! Could be inching our way to getting the swallow test so he can start to get eat and drink but a couple days away for now.

In the meantime, one step at a time. ❤️‍🩹. Love and appreciate you all! 🙏🏽

Happy Saturday morning!

Going to be a good weekend. But first have to come check in on my bro @gratefulgabe80 who’s in the hospital with the pneumonia and the flu. Appreciate if everybody could show him some love and give him the strength of your thoughts and prayers to make it just a little easier to pass the time while he’s recuperating ❤️‍🩹 but anxious to get out. 🙏🏽

What an amazing blessing it is to spend time with each other. The weeks and months fly by but everything stands still in our laughter and our love we share through the amazing food, the fun games, and the pleasant surprises that come with our Christmas gatherings. I cherish these moments and don’t take any of it for granted. We’ll never be this age again and we won’t always be able to be together in the same way we’re were this weekend. 🙏🏽🏡☀️

I have no doubt that our ancestors are right there with us, appreciating the life we lead with their guidance and their light that continues to shine the way. ✨🌅

This is a life fulfilled. These moments are everything. ♥️🙌🏽🙏🏽🎁🎄☀️

My man @gratefulgabe80 is an absolute WARRIOR!

There just ain’t no quit in this dude, and I’m grateful to be a small part of the journey he’s in.

We are a few pounds from a major milestone… Gabe needs a kidney, he has a donor but was told he had to reach a certain weight medically for the operation.

After 3 months and almost 20lbs down we are literally a stone throw away from that number.

But the saying is, disruption ALWAYS follows intention. These last 3 months haven’t been without its challenges in the journey. Gabe was hospitalized a couple times and had for another unexpected operation in the process.

We give him time when he needs it for recovery, and we push it when we can. See, we understand that the disruption, although inconvenient and uncomfortable to deal with, it will not show up unless there was growth for us on the other side. So, instead of being intimidated by the disruption or distracted by the disruption, we decide to gracefully go through the disruption, and make it give us what we need and desire… Next Level GROWTH!!!

Proud of you brotha. Let’s keep going and keep growing.
