I’ve done 16 of these promos now for @a_sunday_thing and I love the challenge of adapting and subtly shifting the design language each time. The graphic motifs have evolved since the first series but remain connected through use of space and division of shape.

A pared back aesthetic informed by three acts coming together on the seventh day of the week has moved on to represent a two way dialogue represented by more complex arrangements. It always represents sound and it always represents the way Chris expertly engages with his guests.

It’s a passion project that has grown into something that represents a really beautiful community spirit. A small room full of people in fits of laughter with Mark Radcliffe or John Thomson. Everyone locked in to the sound of an emerging band or artist. Impeccable selections from the Gravy Train DJs to see out the evening.

As Sundays go, the team have got a really, truly great thing going here.

The perfect antidote to an England win hangover…

A Sunday afternoon filled with the transcendental sounds of @mattwildemusic ,followed by an utterly captivating conversation between the legendary broadcaster, raconteur and all-round lovely human @nickyaacampbell , expertly hosted by the incomparable @iamchriswarburton. Chris has a rare gift for creating a few hours on a Sunday that make you forget to look at your phone and yesterday was no exception. These afternoons don’t just happen; huge thanks to our unsung heroes who give their time and talents so generously- @jasonlockphoto behind the camera, capturing the moments we’ll treasure and the @gravytraindjs whose passion and dedication help make these events so special.

Community. Conversation. Music. Creativity. Sundays don’t get much better than this. See you all in September for the next one
Big up also to @annastevens.art

To celebrate 3 years in our permanent home, we’re bringing it full circle…

Yes that’s right, I did bring live hip hop to Heaton Moor, Stockport for the 21st @a_sunday_thing

And yes that’s right, we were in the presence of Manchester music royalty - someone embedded in the DNA of this country’s music history.

And yes, I was a brave little trooper to host the event just two weeks after hernia surgery.

The amazing Meduulla & her DJ @ethanhillbeats gave us such a fantastic set - blowing up the spot, etc. Playing @bandonthewall April 1st if you get a chance

And what an honour to spend time talking to Stephen Morris - a remarkable life in music as drummer for @officialjoydivision and @neworderofficial an absolute treat talking to someone whose influence runs so deep

My main man Colin S @gravytraindjs bringing the disco and house vibes

Just a great afternoon! The next Sunday Thing will be Sunday May 10th featuring the RETURN of THE LEGEND @graemepark with a 2 hour set - and a run down of the highs and lows of his incredible career + music from funk/punk 6 piece @flatmoonband

Tickets on sale soon.

Thanks as always to the AST crew:

👑@teamlock - head honcho. If you’re in HM show @ukartclub your love

Thank you so much for another wonderful, warm and funny afternoon. It’s hard to believe @iamchriswarburton began this idea 20 sessions ago - each ‘A Sunday Thing’ always has the makings of an afternoon you know will linger, leaving you topped up until your cup truly runneth over! This one was no exception.

The music was a glorious synth soul mash up by @transmission_towers with the enigmatic Eleanor on vocals who was utterly captivating. In conversation was with Mark Radcliffe, musician, writer and frankly broadcast royalty was of course the best raconteur; made even better by the presence of the best-behaved dog, Arlo.

Huge thanks to everyone who makes these gatherings what they are. They really do stay with you. With warmest appreciation, Ang & the Art Club Team. Many thanks to @jasonlockphoto @gravytraindjs @jtilleycreative @reuben.lock for all your pro bono work

One of the coolest A Sunday Things yet -number 19 and counting.
Hosted by BBC 5 Live’s very own Heaton Moor hero, @iamchriswarburton , in conversation with the unstoppable @dj_paulette1 -Manc trailblazer, feminist force, mentor, Aunty, salt-of-the-earth legend… and my new bestie (she doesn’t know yet, but it’s happening).

Live music courtesy of five-piece indie magic-makers @korova.band all somehow shoehorned into Art Club to create the cosiest, coolest, most unforgettable Sunday afternoon.

To conclude a perfect afternoon tunes by the @gravytraindjs. Massive shoutout to @jasonlockfilm for the brilliant documentation & @thetame for the sound

Paulette dropped a truth bomb we all needed:
If you’re buying tickets for a festival or event and there are no women on the lineup, pause and ask -why?
