A couple of stars for @gray.matter.makes Justice for Nolan Wells quilt. Petra asked for 18 stars made with upcycled men’s dress shirts. Among so many other issues, racism is on the ballot this November, so consider this one of many reminders to vote. And when you do, vote against racism and bigotry. Use your vote to stand up for your neighbors and your community. Sending so much love to Nolan’s family. May they get the justice that they deserve for the tragic loss of his life. #justicefornolanwells

If we build it, will you come? What started as a snarky response to a fabric manufacturer's tone deaf social media post is blossoming into something that could become a really amazing community of inclusive, anti-bigoted makers. We know we can't do this alone, so if you are interested in helping grow this crazy ass idea, please fill out the Anti-racist Quilt Guild's Planning Group Interest Form linked under @sasquatch.stitches profile. We are seeking volunteers that have skills in community/organization building, social media, technology structures, and legal/business structures to form a small planning group. Tolerance for the word "fuck" is an attribute. Not knowing what kind of response we'll receive, you may not hear back from us right away. There were some folks that volunteered to help in the comments under Petra's original post - for visibility we'll try to tag them in the comments here - hopefully we won't miss anyone. A public IG profile, with demonstrated anti-racist views is required. Invitation is open worldwide and meetings will be virtual. Radicalized quilty friends are the best 🔥 @gray.matter.makes @the_happy_sewist @thequiltymagpie #anti-racism, #sewliberal, #subversivestitching

It was just a couple of days ago that I saw a repost of @gray.matter.makes #justicefornolanwells project, and I knew I needed to participate. Petra’s ask was for star blocks featuring fabric from men’s blue shirts. I still had a few scraps of Dave’s shirts left over from a quilt I made - see the last photo for the “Grandpa Hugs” quilt I made for the grandbabies - and I couldn’t think of a better way to put these last little bits to use #sawtoothstar ⭐️ Nolan deserves justice and his family deserves peace. And I think Dave would have been proud to be involved in a small way💙 #quiltingispolitical #blacklivesmatter

@gray.matter.makes put out a call for stars for her #justicefornolanwells quilt and I made two but miscalculated the sizing of the second one. Will give that another try in the morning and then get them in the mail. Nolan’s family deserves answers. Nolan deserved to live much longer than 18 years. 💔

STICKER TIME 🥲 a drawing of our 2025 events group quilt. The evidence of the last two weeks of my night time drawing while the boys watch Monster Jams 🤪 the bottom is water colors (my old favorite medium) and the top is a marker. The red is the original stitched appliqué on the back along with Karin’s black handwriting. But towards the end of the project when I was seeing the end in sight, I was like ??? Why did I draw this for a sticker?? Would anyone even want one?? Isn’t it still atrocious to look at? 😅 So head to my stories to vote for your favorite— I’m going to buy 100, and 20 will be mailed to the ladies that helped me with this project, and then that leaves 80 to pass out at QuiltCon. I don’t even know if 80 people will want a sticker of our group quilt?? #youreoverreacting #youreoverreactingquilt #procreate #protestquilt #ragequilting

I love the backing of this quilt. I fucking hated making it 🤪 and it took so fucking long 🤪 but it was worth it 🫶🏻 I asked everyone to send me a pic of their own handwriting with something they wanted to say — either a response to someone in MAGA saying “you’re overreacting…” or anything they’d like to say to someone in MAGA in general. All of our statements are quite different. Which one brings the most 🔥??? #youreoverreactingquilt #ragequilt ‘You’re Overreacting’ Beth Reeves, Erin Bauchan-Caprara, Pam Brisse, Kaia Kessler, Ann Whitehurst, Karin Rabe, Jane Doe, Shayla Wolf, Aynex Mercado, Jan Koehn, Tiffany Horn, Petra Johnson, Rebecca Halvorsen, Tara Evans, Rebecca Bratburd, Adrianna Jaffrani, Julie Eakes, Kelly Hull, Sarah Morris, Carrie Stout, Allie McCathren

“This isn’t a big deal…you’re overreacting.” Harm dismissed. Corruption normalized. Systems gutted. Lives treated as collateral. Together, these moments are minimized. Which could be the worst? Living through the year 2025 was disorienting, relentless, and cumulative. We are paying attention, even as we are told not to trust our eyes, our lived experiences, or each other. We’re overreacting? The fuck we are. One day, everyone will have always been against this. #youreoverreactingquilt #ragequilt ‘You’re Overreacting’ Beth Reeves, Erin Bauchan-Caprara, Pam Brisse, Kaia Kessler, Ann Whitehurst, Karin Rabe, Jane Doe, Shayla Wolf, Aynex Mercado, Jan Koehn, Tiffany Horn, Petra Johnson, Rebecca Halvorsen, Tara Evans, Rebecca Bratburd, Adrianna Jaffrani, Julie Eakes, Kelly Hull, Sarah Morris, Carrie Stout, Allie McCathren Just one pic for now — more soon
