THIS SATURDAY! Oct 24 Gather the herd and join us for a great cause.

RSVP link in BIO

Join us for an evening of community, conversation, and connection as we officially launch the Great Escape Legacy Project at our place right here in Longmont CO.

This free event is our way of inviting you to learn about the horses who call our sanctuary home. Through photos, stories, and video, you’ll get to know the remarkable members of our sanctuary herd, discover their individual journeys, and learn why lifelong sanctuary matters.

Enjoy German-fare from the Schnitzel Wagon food truck (vegan, vegetarian and GF options available), local beer and cider, live music, and great conversation with fellow horse lovers and supporters. Whether you’ve been part of Great Escape for years or are just discovering our mission, we’d love to spend the evening with you.

There is no cost to attend. If you’re inspired to support the Legacy Project, opportunities to give will be available, but our greatest hope is simply that you’ll come, connect, and help us celebrate the beginning of something that will protect our sanctuary herd for the rest of their lives.

Cremello. (Now known as Onaqui) 🪽

I’ve been thinking about you today, and about how many paths crossed because of you.

You and Onyx, along with Ghost and so many others, were gathered on the final day of the 2019 Onaqui roundup. We had no idea. There were no public observers that day, and we believed the horses remaining on the HMA were safe. But you and the herd, then known as the Tribe, had wandered off the HMA and into the path of the helicopters.

We wouldn’t find out for weeks.

Then came the scramble—phone calls, tracking down information, figuring out where you were and, most importantly, finding somewhere safe for you to go.

One connection led to another until we found @great_escape_mustangs .

And they said yes.

They gave Cremello and Onyx a soft place to land. They cared for them, loved them, and gave them a life beyond the range. For that, I will always be grateful. 🖤

Those early days were messy, complicated and full of more drama than I care to remember. But I remember Cremello—and the good people who showed up for him.

A wild horse with a bonded friend who needed someone to say yes.

I’ll always be grateful that @great_escape_mustangs did.

Thank you for taking the call, giving Cremello and Onyx a forever home, and caring for him all these years.

Rest easy, Cremello. 🤍

Last images: Stephanie from @great_escape_mustangs during the bidding process. The last image was as soon as they were the winning bidder for Crem. We all cried happy tears.

I’m so excited to be bringing Dance of the Wild back to the Mary D. Fisher Theatre in Sedona! 🐎✨

After a sold-out premiere in June, this beautiful, award-winning documentary is returning for two encore screenings:

Thursday, September 3 at 4 PM
Friday, September 4 at 7 PM

I’ll be there for both screenings and will be hosting a live discussion and Q&A afterward.

Dance of the Wild is a gorgeous, poetic journey into our timeless relationship with the wild horse and the ways that relationship connects us back to nature, spirit, land, and the deeper places within ourselves. At its heart, the film celebrates the sacredness of our Mustangs and the urgent need to protect and honor them.

I can’t wait to share this film with our community again and to see you all there. ❤️🐎

This is a clip from our feature documentary and this is why we made Dance of the Wild.

A new New York Times investigation reports that federally protected wild horses are being sent to the slaughter pipeline after being removed from public lands and sold.

Mustangs today live in a painful contradiction: they are protected symbols of American freedom, yet thousands are rounded up and removed from their homes every year. Many spend their lives in government holding facilities, while others are adopted or sold through a system that can fail them.

But mustangs are more than numbers in a government program. They are living beings, teachers, healers and an irreplaceable part of our shared natural heritage.

We made Dance of the Wild to help people fall in love with these horses—because we protect what we love.

Come experience their beauty, wisdom and uncertain future:

🐎 Sept. 3 at 4:00 PM — Sedona, Arizona
🐎 Sept. 4 at 7:00 PM — Sedona, Arizona
🐎 Sept. 6 at 11:00 AM — Topanga Film Festival, California

Tickets and information at the link in our bio.

Please watch, share and help us bring the story of America’s mustangs to more people.
