UPDATE: While I was editing this video (on 8/25)News broke that line 5 was ruptured by a truck in #Wisconsin during their reroute construction leading to evacuations.
Now imagine something like this happening in the #GreatLakes.

————————————————————————

The fight to stop #Line5 continues and we need folks to come out to water weekend this #LaborDayweekend in #Michigan to lock in on shutting down line 5. Meet local organizers and learn how to take action.

🌀 a collection of chaos during man-made chaos - Gary, Indiana has been without power for 8 days. Puerto Rico without water for 124. Cuba without power for months. Flint still without clean water. Nobody is coming to save us, the time build community power and sovereignty is now. #resistance #community

Join us this Saturday August 15th 12-2pm! Amend is thrilled to host @greatlakescreatives for “Detroit Water Sovereignty Gathering”. This event will focus on local and regional watershed updates and water awareness. Enjoy water collected from Michigan springs, create crafts with locally grown lavender, and take home handmade water maps and zines, along with a conversation lead by Valerie Jean @valeriejean333 of People’s Water Board Coalition and Riverwise Magazine.
We’ll also have fresh organic produce to share and an abundant amount of flowers to harvest for bouquets!

Over Labor Day weekend, the team attended the Water is Life festival in Michigan. We celebrated water with a kayak paddle out, workshop with local partners, and tabling with the community at the Water Is Life Festival and the Mackinac Bridge walk! 🌊🌊We watched a showing of the Bad River film and heard from Bad River members. We closed out summer by creating regional connections with organizers in Michigan and with nature. 💙💧

On the bridge walk, we could see the fresh, blue waters of Lake Huron and Lake Michigan mixing in the Straits of Mackinac, yet all is threatened by the Line 5 tar sands pipeline running on the lake floor below. 👺
ALL is a reminder of the important regional fight we are in together for the water. ✊🏼

We all must protect our corner of the universe ➡️take action now ☎️⬇️‼️

EGLE (Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes & Energy) currently considering the +92,000
public comments left in August during the public comment period.

Now is the time to let Governor Whitmer and EGLE Director Roos know how urgent it is that we PROTECT the Great Lakes and 20% of the world’s fresh surface water BY REJECTING Enbridge’s Line 5 and their proposed tunnel project. ❌❌
