#ThatFaceYouMake as a local landfill operator, when you realize much food waste tiny little Greener Bay Compost is keeping out of your landfill, and you don't like it, because it (and the cultural shift toward composting/food waste reduction GBC has kickstarted) puts your "waste management" career (which depends on everyone continuing to trash their food waste) at risk.

Prior to #GreenerBayCompost's founding in July of 2021, all the #FoodWaste you see here (and much, much more!) was unnecessarily ending up in Northeastern #Wisconsin's landfills, at GREAT taxpayer expense. But thanks to our one-of-a-kind, Award-Winning Residential and Commercial #Compost Pickup Services (www.GBCompost.com/Services) in the Green Bay and Fox Cities areas, and our HUNDREDS of amazing Service subscribers (who care just as much about their communities and our planet as we do!), this material has been and is being upcycled into a nutrient-rich soil amendment (www.GBCompost.com/Compost) at our commercial, food-waste-focused compost facility (www.GBCompost.com/Facility) instead! 🌎 😍

Want to start living the most #sustainable life possible, being an amazing role model to your loved ones, and helping us create a cleaner, greener future for us, our children, and our children's children, starting today? If YES, visit www.GBCompost.com to show your support for and join our mission to keep valuable food waste OUT of our local landfills, by signing up for our Services and/or purchasing compost direct from us for your lawn, garden, trees/shrubs, and/or houseplants! 🍌 🥑 🥪 🥓 🧀 🦴 ♻️ 🌱 🍅 🌳 🪴

We can't wait to help YOU help US make Northeastern Wisconsin a better place to live for EVERYONE, one five-gallon bucket at a time! 😃

Coffee grounds, chaff, whole beans, and paper filters? Greener Bay Compost could be composting it all, for EVERY coffee shop and café in the Green Bay and Fox Cities areas, from the Mom & Pops, to the drive-thru-only, micro-cafés (like Caribou, 7Brew, and Scooters), to the giant corporations (like Starbucks, Dunkin, etc.), but we're not. At least not yet. ☕️ ♻️

This is because, since our founding in July 2021, the only coffee shop/café that has even requested a quote from us, let alone utilized our extremely reliable and very reasonably-priced Commercial Compost Pickup Service (www.GBCompost.com/Commercial) is the great @kavarnacoffeehouse on Broadway in Green Bay (which has diverted over FIFTEEN TONS of these materials from our local landfills since partnering with us).

That said, we want to give a big Shout Out to Mike and Kayla, the owners of Kavarna, for putting their literal money where their mouths are, and supporting us--the only provider of the type of Compost Pickup Services we provide that has EVER existed in Northeastern Wisconsin, and which could not and would not exist without the tangible, financial support of amazing people like them. 📢

This brings us to a logical question: When are our other local coffee shops going to step up and stop sending tons of food waste to our local landfills every year, and do the right thing for our planet, our children, and children's children, like Kavarna has been doing for 3+ years now, and compost their coffee and food waste instead? 🤔

Until these shops decide to follow in Kavarna's very sustainable foot steps, we highly recommend that all of our subscribers, supporters, and followers vote with their wallets for the behavior they'd like to see from the coffee shops and cafés they patronize, by getting your coffee and coffee-adjacent breakfast/lunch from Mike and Kayla and the amazing staff at Kavarna. 💰 🗳

Kavarna deserves to be rewarded for setting the standard for sustainability in their field for the last nearly half-decade! 🏅 We think nearly everyone reading this will agree.

One of the coolest things about our commercial, food-waste-focused compost facility (www.GBCompost.com/Facility)--the ONLY one of its kind serving Northeastern Wisconsin!--is that, every year, pumpkins and other squash/gourd plants volunteer (that is, their seeds plant themselves, germinate, and grow on their own, with no intervention from us) on the outskirts of our finished compost windrows (piles)! 🎃

Look at the size of the two beauties in this one photo alone! And we have many plants like this growing on our compost pad currently, in addition to some tomatoes and pepper plants! 🍅🫑

And if you're wondering whether we've harvested any edible squashes yet, why YES, we have--both pie pumpkins AND acorn squash! 😃

The reason the aforementioned plants volunteer themselves is, #1, their seeds routinely survive the composting process (on account of how tough they are!), #2, they are "heavy feeders" which LOVE how nutrient-rich our compost (www.GBCompost.com/Compost) is, and #3, it is VERY SUNNY on our compost pad (which has no shade, on account of no trees).

Now, if this isn't a testament to how great our compost is, and how much your lawn, garden, trees/shrubs, and houseplants would benefit from it, then we don't know what is! 💪 🌳

Beneath these volunteer plants is essentially pure clay. The only real nutrients these volunteers get is from the thin layer of our finished, Unscreened Compost their roots can grow into (because we don't water or fertilize volunteer plants), and CLEARLY these plants are doing GREAT! Look at how lush and green they are! 🙆‍♂️ Not only this, but they producs a LOT of flowers! 🌼

So what are you waiting for? Request some compost from us today at www.GBCompost.com/Compost! Even if you think it is a little late in the growing season to add compost now, it's NEVER too late, and this beautiful soil amendment will continue to feed and improve your soil for YEARS! 🌎 🌱

If anyone ever invents a machine that can dump the contents of upwards of 40 or more 100+-pound totes (specifically) filled with wet, heavy food waste into/onto our windrows (compost piles) for us, weekly, please let us know. Until then, we'll just have to keep manually depositing over a ton of this material onto our compost pad each week, like we've been doing for the last five years.

(Please note: We do own a 1025R John Deere bucket loader, and have owned it since July 2022, for the purpose of TURNING our windrows, but this machine is not capable of depositing our totes full of pre-mixed "compost lasagna"--that is, our subscribers' food waste mixed with wood shavings supplied by us--onto our compost pad. We understand that other composters do all their dumping of food waste and mixing of wood into the food waste with tractors outdoors--but that does not work when it is 20 below zero outside, like it gets to be in Northeastern Wisconsin, where we exclusively operate).

Did you know? Each week at Greener Bay Compost, we fill upwards of 40 or more 17 gallon totes, like those pictured here, with enormous amounts of our Compost Pickup Service subscribers' (www.GBCompost.com/Services) food waste/scraps and associated #organics, mixed with premium pine shavings supplied by us, so we can deposit their contents, manually, onto the compost pad at our Commercial, #FoodWaste-Focused #Compost Facility (www.GBCompost.com/Facility).

There is no special machinery that can dump out the contents of these totes, which can weigh up to 100 pounds or more apiece (particularly when they're filled with watermelon in the summertime! 🍉). This means our staff needs to manually lift and dump out the contents of every single one of these totes every single week--to the tune of well over a TON of wet, heavy food waste per week!--onto/into our windrows (long compost piles). 💪

In addition to all the bacteria, viruses, mold, fungi, potentially sharp (like knives!), biting insects and wild critters, and inclement weather we are exposed to year-round, this unavoidable, manual labor (which some would rightfully call "backbreaking"!) we must engage in each week is a big reason for why our Award-Winning, one-of-a-kind Services (which could be rightfully called #luxury services, because we make composting so easy, clean, convenient, and SAFE for our subscribers) cost what they cost.

We see a lot of our fellow composters, including many in Wisconsin, essentially running slave plantations, where the owners themselves are the slaves, doing work just as laborious and dangerous as ours, and charging next to nothing, or worse, literally nothing, for their valuable services.

These other composters are not running businesses. They are engaging in a very expense, time-consuming, and dangerous hobby that will eventually put them in the hospital, or worse.

Having said that, we don't want to ever hear anyone say our Services are "expensive" (compared to what?), when they have no clue what it takes to run a service such as ours (the only one of its kind in Northeastern Wisconsin!) or what our expenses are, and have no idea the danger we subject ourselves to every week.
