Men do retreats too!

Not Vegas, not parties, not booze, not long nights. A retreat to strengthen mind body and connection. A men’s adventure retreat means quality time with a curated group of guys who want to enjoy new adventures, build and strengthen relationships and benefit from the camaraderie and perspective of other men on a growth journey.

My opinion : The more technology enables remote work, virtual communication, and physical isolation, the more important retreats like these will be.

When did you last spend a whole day with people instead of a screen?

If you’re new to my page, nice to meet you. I’m Justin Singer. I’m an entrepreneur and real estate investor with a passion for breathing new life into existing properties. I care deeply about health, human performance, and helping people thrive and that shows up in the projects I take on, the ventures I build, and the experiences and retreats I regularly host. If you’re looking for nuggets on investing, human performance, or just want my take on what a life well lived looks and feels like, you’re in the right spot.

Man this was one hell of an awesome Excellent Adventure weekend. 18 dudes up early Saturday for a paddle board to peanut island. Full morning snorkeling and saw thousands of fish: parrot fish, trumpet fish, snook, grunts, wrasses, sergeant majors, stingrays, a few barracuda and more. Then a mad dash paddle back as the thunderstorm rolled in. Just made it back… then an awesome afternoon of recovery at the Amrit in their thermal circuit: sauna, steam room, salt room, jacuzzi and two cold plunge pools… followed by some sick finishes in college football at the bar over beers… a quick nap… a great dinner…. Then up at 6AM for our Midlife Male Signature Sunrise 5K Ruck (this time sunless haha) with our weighted AION vests in 38mph winds and some rain… then a lot of coffee and a fantastic breakfast, followed by another round in the recovery center and everyone out by noon.

When @gregscheinman and I talk about and plan these weekends, our #1 goal is to have fun and stick to our simple motto: let’s do cool shit with cool guys. This weekend we had about twenty friends show up from all over the country. This was the second, third and fourth trip for some guys and the first for others. Some we’ve known for a while, others have been reading Midlife Male and saw the stuff that Greg and I do and they signed up. The common thread is that every guy spends most of their time being ‘ON’. On at work as a CEO or entrepreneur or leader… Being on at home as a dad, husband, coach, friend, brother, etc… But most guys don’t have anything where they can just chill and do cool stuff and turn their phone off and their minds off and just have fun. That’s what these Excellent Adventures are for. A good time. A relaxing time. A doable challenge. A bunch of guys who you’re now buddies with. Done. Another successful weekend. And the coolest part for us is when guys (many who just met) already have plans to meet up soon in future cities on travel or business or whatever. That’s how we know we’re building the right group. That’s how we all win. Onto the next Excellent Adventure Club event in April.

A few weekends ago I got to have the most epic experience hiking up to Gray’s and Torrey’s Peak with old and new friends. THANK YOU, @sterling_hawkins @havilandhawkins and @gregscheinman for organizing such a thoughtful and fun 48 hours. We pulled an all nighter to get to the trail head by 230am, an all nighter in your 40s with this crew looks different to one in your 20s. I loved talking to everyone as we made our way up in the dark. The weather turned as we made our way to the summit but that is all part of the fun. We got back down around 1pm and has the best Burger in the most beautiful setting. I love these experiences and the people I get to meet on them. Looking forward to the next one!

Some men shy away from the greatest gift.

Fu** that!

Do hard things and that includes love.

Life lately has been very full.

Retreats all over the world. Keynotes all over the world. Mountains, airports, hotel rooms, long conversations, new faces, old friends.

There’s been a lot of movement. And a lot to be grateful for. Gratitude doesn’t begin to cover it.

I’ve gotten to watch people do things they didn’t think they could do. Sit with things they’d been avoiding. Make decisions that changed the direction of their lives and businesses. And I’ve gotten to do it alongside some incredible people.

I don’t take any of that for granted.

There’s still a lot ahead for No Matter What. But for a minute, I’m just taking in how awesome these last few months have been.

Another year of telling yourself you’ll start, and you’re standing in the exact same spot.

Momentum comes first. Motivation shows up after.

Monday Minute or 5 - Not Being Afraid to Do Hard Things

After finishing my second @29029official, my friend, @birame.sock, set me a wonderful message, congratulating and encouraging me. But it was something else she said in that message I wanted to share with you.

She stated that “there is no doubt that your success is due to the fact that you are not afraid of doing hard things.”

That really got me thinking about people’s ability to succeed in their goals and dreams is usually not found on an easy path. The more we embrace doing hard things, especially when we can do it with joy, the greater our opportunities for success is.

Sometimes it means a difficult conversation, making uncomfortable choices, or physically pushing our limits.

There’s no doubt that this week, you will be faced with something hard. I hope to encourage you to not be afraid of doing the hard things and in the process, put yourself in a place to experience success.

@gregscheinman was choosing to overspend. Choosing not to train. Choosing to buy bigger pants instead of dealing with it.

You might not be CEO of the company. You’re still the CEO of your life.

They’ve got a CFO and KPIs on everything.

@gregscheinman asks the same guys for the plan for their life and the room goes quiet.

Every metric covered except the one you live in.

When you put me and @gregscheinman together… you know things are about to get interesting.

Grays and Torrey’s Peak gave us rain, wind, cold, and a whole lot of good people willing to keep going.

No perfect conditions. No checking a box. Just a mountain, a crew, and plenty of opportunities to actually practice getting real, No Matter What.
