Jimmy Xie @jimmyxieart has proven good for curating secretive car meetups @sociology_of_cars_breakfast

The write-up from our longer distance drive, where we met in Ojai to drive farther north, is on the Camera Carspot website. This time it was photos and convos, with a scenic view offering a unique look into the automotive industry at large.

After this chill session, we made our way to a hidden gem for breakfast. Nice meeting more automotive enthusiast and catching up with good ones I know. Neatly and thoughtfully organized by Jimmy.

I brought my old Canon T5 for this meetup. My Mum bought me this Canon Bundle (18-55mm, 70-300mm) back in 2014 and it helped keep my love for Media going. It's great these materials can last this long (with minimum maintenance) and I think it held its own catching these scenes.

You see this car, you know it’s the leader of @nd.sun behind the wheel. @grimroadster is one of the most well-known event organizers of the @mazdausa Miata community, curating exclusive driving experiences for club members from all over SoCal.

The day started off with pancakes and donuts at @tustinmazda. It was really nice to catch up with Kyle and Callie to learn a bit about competitive karting @hrtdriverdevelopment @qtheunicorn (and what a nice surprise to see them!). Then off to Mt Palomar and Julian Pie Co.

Flashback to a random last-minute night drive on Angeles Crest Highway in the summer of 2021. I had this shot in mind and needed a few cars to make it happen, and after a few group chats, half a dozen Miata NDs came out to play.

We used walkie talkies to coordinate two cars driving from opposite ends to create the light stream on the road. The light painting around the black Miata is from a friend riding his Onewheel around it. The photo came out better than expected because so many good ideas came from the group!

Got this pic of @grimroadster on the way to Vegas. Left right away, the abandoned building was creeping me out. 🔪
