A fantastic new addition to Sammlung von Foerster: Margalit Cutler stopped by today. She works as an illustrator and visual artist in New York but is currently in Berlin and spent a guest semester at the UDK some time ago. She brought along her 2026 oil painting “That’s Amore,” which I’d spotted at the fantastic Zippklasse exhibition at Grisebach. Over coffee, we talked about German Pop Art, specifically Uwe Lausen and Bettina von Arnim, whose influence I recognize in her work. Now I just have to find a place for it; it’ll probably end up at the Außenstelle Britz rsp. New Britz Connection, where it will soon be on display.

Sixteen years without Christoph Schlingensief. And so many reasons to miss him.
“Es ist nicht mehr mein Problem, macht eure Scheiße alleine”, opening this week at @gropiusbau, brings his work to Berlin following its presentation at @mak_vienna in collaboration with @wienerfestwochen.
Curated by Raphael Gygax and @ainolaberenz, the exhibition makes his absence painfully palpable. So much of what Schlingensief exposed – and warned us about – has become part of our everyday political reality. Yet his work still refuses to let us grow accustomed to it. How badly we could use his voice today - someone willing to unsettle our certainties and ask the questions we would rather avoid.
Congratulations and thanks to @almeidapees and the @berlinerfestspiele, @jennyschlenzka, and their Vienna partners @lillihollein and @milorau4 for making this project possible (and thanks for treating us, @diandradonecker and @ririsiebies). Unfortunately, the timing could hardly be more right …
