🌏 SHED AROUND THE WORLD

Daemo | Newcastle, Australia 🇦🇺

From Christchurch to Newcastle, Daemo is proof that wherever life takes you, the CrossFit community isn’t far away.

After years of rugby, a run of injuries led him to finally give CrossFit a crack in early 2025.

“I had been thinking about trying it for a couple of years. Rugby injuries pushed me to look for something that was fun, competitive and a good release of energy.”

A recommendation from an old rugby teammate led him through the doors of The Shed while living in Christchurch, and he’s never looked back.

Now based in Newcastle and studying to become a financial adviser, Daemo trains at @gritperformancecentre , where he’s found another great community.

“Like The Shed, it’s full of awesome people who push you to be your best.”

Biggest lesson from CrossFit?

“Gymnastics movements! Unless you’ve done gymnastics growing up, that level of body control is pretty rare. I also learned that the workout stops hurting about five minutes after it’s finished... so don’t stop!” 😅

What do you miss most about The Shed?
“The people. Special shout out to the 5am crew.” ❤️

A Shed memory you’ll never forget?
“Competing in the Pick ‘n Mix comp with May.”

Favourite thing about Newcastle?
“I live about a three-minute walk from Bar Beach, which is pretty hard to top.” 🌊

Favourite movement?
🏋️ Bench Press

Least favourite movement?
😖 Thrusters

Advice for anyone nervous about starting CrossFit?
“Give it a crack. What’s the worst that can happen?”

And to finish:
Home isn’t always a place, sometimes it’s...

“People.” ❤️

No matter where our members end up in the world, they’ll always be part of The Shed family.

It's great to see the Rolley Crusaders getting their first workout with members at @gritperformancecentre

They posted this beautiful snippet of video recently and I just had to pinch/share/celebrate 😁 ...with a little pepper.

The Rolley Crusader is a fresh innovation and we look forward to serving more crossfit gyms crazy enough to love wall walks 😆

We're proud to be bringing our unique value to all corners of the strength and fitness world anf we love the #crossfitcommunity so if we can make wall walks a bit less hassle to set up and a bit more enticing to conquer then it's a win.

It's always inspiring to see wall walks in action and for all those 'crusaders' you have our endless respect ✊️

Another Stampede done 🐂

We never wanted this to be just another local comp. We wanted it to be the one people remember. The hard one. The one they come back for. And I genuinely think we got there.

Day wouldn’t run without @tysonmaherr

His programming is unmatched. This man’s knowledge is INSANE 🔥 Every single event has INTENT behind it. Nothing is slapped together. Ask him why a movement is there, why the rep scheme is what it is, why it’s in that order, and he’ll give you an answer without blinking.

To our volunteers: you guys are freakin AWESOME. No one does it like you. You ran the day so smoothly that most people had no idea how much was happening behind the scenes. That’s all you.

To our judges: thank you for holding the standard all day long. That’s what makes a comp people trust.

And to every athlete who stepped on the floor: thank you for showing up, giving it your all and respecting our space like it was your own. You made it what it was.

Tired. Proud. Grateful. And already thinking about next year 👀

Because honestly?

We’re just getting started 🧡🖤
