We’re very excited to introduce the AFROSURF/SKATE, our most recent collaboration with @globebrand. For the occasion, Globe created a limited run of ‘AFROSURF/SKATE’ ‘surf/skate’ skateboards featuring iconic graphics from our award-winning AFROSURF book. Surf/skate boards are a specific range of Globe’s portfolio of skate boards that replicates on land the sensations and movements a surfer feels on water. The surf/skate board uses recycled rubber grip that can be ridden barefoot from city streets to the beach. To celebrate the launch of their first collaboration, we will be releasing 16 numbered and signed Collector’s Edition ‘AFROSURF/SPORT’ special packs including: a Mami Wata x Globe surf/skate board; a copy of our AFROSURF coffee table book; and a Mami Wata sweatshirt and tee shirt. The packs are exclusively available from Mamiwatasurf.com All profits from the sale of these packs will go to @wavesforchange , a Cape Town surf therapy programme, and @ziyaad_skate_school_ , a Cape Town youth skating programme — two organisations whose work we believe in. In modelling, a lot of jobs require self tapes. Basically, you film yourself so the client can see how you move, act, and perform naturally — to see if you’re the right fit. This clip is a self tape I did for a BMW commercial that I actually booked. The brief was a New York, Bronx-type guy. They asked me to walk back and forth in two ways — one serious, one cool. Then I had to show different expressions in about eight seconds. And finally… dance to a hip hop song. You can clearly I was feeling it 💃🏽🕺🏾 😂 The point is: always give your all in self tapes. Because this tape booked me one of the best jobs I’ve ever done.
