UKHH COLLECTION SERIES 036 - Verbz.

Young Croydon (South London) emcee @verbzyygram would come up in the middle of the 2010's, demonstrating his clean cut flows and introspective lyricism, releasing his debut solo album 'Lessons Of Adolescence' alongside Brighton based beat maker @mr_slipz in 2017. 2019 saw him release a solo project in the form of 'Pathwayz' via the label @group_bracil. Then, in 2020, Verbz and his production partner, Mr Slipz, would sign to @highfocusrecords as a duo for the incredible 20-track LP 'Radio Waves'. The years following this would see them return via the HF label for the EP 'Where It Started' (2022) and album and 'Sight Beyond Sight' an album that would see the duo joined by Australian emcee and new name to the HF roster @nelson.dialect. That same year, they would also team up with American underground emcee @caprefontaine for the 'Shore Connects' LP that dropped via @bluntshelter. Then, more recently, the duo of Verbz & Mr Slipz would return to High Focus to release their third album together 'The Way Fwd'. Also pictured is a signed 7 inch single of a drum and bass remix of their 2020 single 'The Rain' by @alixperez1985. I will list all pictured physicals below.

Lightness is not weightlessness.

It’s carrying what weighs on you without letting it stop your movement.
@morriarchi and @pertrelli Purple took almost five years to shape "Light on My Feet": a record of half-lit streets, long train journeys, blurred edges and grooves built to outlast fast-food release cycles.

Music made at its own pace, away from trends and the exhausting need to please everyone.

We spoke about unlearning grime, making space for emotion, building albums instead of playlists, independent music, and why The Bourne Identity might explain the whole thing.

Light, but vital.

Dropped some new music last week with Pertrelli Purple called ‘clean slate’.

Part of a larger conversation, but essentially the first piece of music we made together a few moons ago and acts as a ‘clean slate’ in many ways for 2 of us as well as just the title.

We recorded a mix for @subtleradio recently that kinda reflects where we both align stylistically (outside of our joint work) as well material that played a part or echoes some of the narrative we were developing.

Be lying if i said it was the easiest process i’ve been a part of 😂😭😂 but over the years i’ve come to accept that sometimes the more meaningful projects can be like this and the ebbs n flows only benefits it in the long run.

Go listen, share, save and tell Pertrelli he’s doing something special, cos he is.

In late 2025, Birmingham's rap enigma @mudinmymalbec would team up with London producer @morriarchi for this collaborative LP titled - 'Golden Parachute'. Released collaboratively via their respective independent labels @webuygoldltd/ @group_bracil. The 12 track LP is pressed to this limited edition transparent with yellow splatter 12-inch coloured vinyl, which is an absolute beauty! Morriarchi brings a smokey exquisite blend of rich, obscure funky chops and elegant loops for Sonnyjim's laid-back poignant style of raps that he delivers with an air of class. There's the minimal and dusty obscure loop of "Gone Fishin" where Sonny declares he'll "pour the cold fizzy water on your head just for talking like a pleb". The big funky grooves of "The Real Thing" see's Sonny accompanied by @jayworthy142 and @tayjordan_pc. The trippy distant percussion and floaty piano notes of "John Daly Sports Club" are perfect for Sonnyjim's laid-back, effortless swag that he carries within his schemes. There's a couple harsher boombap flavours with "Scotch & Escovitch" bringing this murky, pungent sound, but still chill enough to carry Sonnyjim's rhymes, similarly in vibe comes "Av It" where Sonny raps alongside @mondoslade. My personal highlight from this record is "More Lobster", with its chunkier drums and basslines, the jazzy flares make such a fun track! Overall, it's a very atmospheric, floaty record that blends an expensive pallette of sounds with a thin layer of dirt and grime. With further feature verses and additional vocals from @benilaylo, @caprefontaine, @flyanakin and @graziella_fullcircle. #sonnyjim #morriarchi #goldenparachute #ukhiphop #hiphopvinyl

Burnt Bridges, OMV outtakes

produced by @morriarchi I wrote this song over 3 years ago originally was supposed to go on the project “when thugs cry” and that beat was crazy but I’m happy she found new life in 2026, and the time taken for its release kinda plays into the narrative of the song - expectations, fellowships, love and work.

You know I think if didn’t do this, that wouldn’t have happened both in negative and positive ways I’m not saying life is abt sacrifice but I had 2 grow up n recognise when you can’t go back down the path you travelled like that could be a good aah bridge sturdy af n reliable as shit but like the well known children’s story says, trolls live under bridges and the eat goats so be careful which bridge you go over on ur path to being the greatest version of yourself

Shouts to @phillipmlynar @bandcamp for the kind words on the recent u.k. street soul beat tape i did called ‘No Problem’.

Enjoying doing these themed instrumental pieces.

Get to zone in on a specific section of a genre or moment in time, delve in, find what works, which makes the whole thing a bit more of a challenge / puzzle to solve supposed to just mashing loose beats together like i did in the past.

Got a few cassettes dropping on the site this week - really limited numbers @group_bracil

Love to all those listening.

Warming up for the Verbz concert tonight in Malmø with this dope thing from 2019.

Produced by Morriarchi, Chuck Enzo, Arthurr, Big Frank, 2Late, Purple Clouds and Norm Oddity.
Features by NurphZed, Bador, BaggE and clbrks.

Verbz is part of the UK lo-fi hiphop movement in the mid-late 10’s I really love and has kept it up since. This is his second album, his last before he signed to High-Focus and last year he released a dope album with Mr Slipz, which he is touring with now.

The Croydon, South London MC is known for his introspective lyrics and precise, authoritative delivery.

‘No Problem’ by @morriarchi

A collection of instrumentals derived from the sounds of UK street soul circa 1984-1994.

This has been a long time bucket list to do, and probably is just scratching surface....

Unlike its US counter part and musical older sibling , UK street soul was a little more raw, more sultry, slightly macabre and dare i say it a bit funkier???

With Loose Ends, Omar, Soul II Soul leading the charge, lesser known but equally important groups like i-level, 5th of Heaven, En - To - End to name a few made a savage impact on the scene and its adjacent sub genres.

A product of loosely wired sound systems, love letters, weekend shirts, panda pop and dunkable biscuits.

Named after the short lived TV show ‘ No Problem’created by the Black Theatre Co-operatives and featuring the illustrious cast of Victor Romero Evans, Shope Shodeinde, Chris Tummings, Judith Jacob and the phenomenal Janet Kay.

In this weird and saddening wave of fascism we are seeing across the country atm heres to celebrating a part of Britain you can be proud of.
