🪄Last Friday, dozens of volunteers came together to make our third Magic of the Night a success. 🤝Putting on an event like this takes help from community groups like @invest_dsm and @groupcreatives , our local representatives, artists like @upliftingpuppetco , our host @kingauphotography and more. We’re so grateful for their partnership! 🧬 But it also takes engaged members of our community. If you want Magic of the Night to continue to be a bright spot in the Drake Neighborhood, please join the Drake Neighborhood Association (https://dna.wildapricot.org/Become-A-Member) and be a part of something special in Des Moines. 📸And thank you to @jen_stillions_photography for the great pictures of the event!

Great news! This month, the Prairie Village City Council approved the firm who will run our city’s Public Arts Master Plan. We’re very excited to begin working with Group Creative Services, a Des Moines, IA based firm with ties to Kansas City and the metro region. The new Master Plan will provide a roadmap for growing a vibrant and sustainable public arts program. The process will: ► Include robust public engagement ► Outline a comprehensive funding strategy (public and private dollars) ► Be a collaborative effort between the Arts Council, the Parks & Recreation Committee and City Council Prairie Village has a strong history of investing in public art, from sculptures to work highlighted by the Prairie Village Arts Council. Three years ago, the City Council established a Public Arts Fund to expand public art opportunities across the city. It is funded from the Transient Guest Tax (thank you, Inn at Meadowbrook!). Stay tuned for ways to get involved and help shape the future of public art in Prairie Village! ✨ 📸: Courtesy of Group Creative Services, Des Moines, IA (@groupcreatives) @groupcreatives @cityofprairievillage @theinnatmeadowbrook #PrairieVillageKS #PublicArt #ArtsInTheCommunity #ArtInPublicSpaces #ParksAndRecreation
