CEO & Founder of National Business Capital | Private Lender Offering Companies Access to Bridge and Growth Capital | $3B+ Funded Since 2007

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I hosted a dinner with operators deploying AI inside 9-10 figure revenue companies.

The best question I asked:

What part of the company would you rebuild from scratch if AI were native from day one?

That’s when the conversation got interesting.

The serious operators are past the model debate.

They care about data access, permissions, memory, routing, evals, and human review.

A smart model with messy context is still a mess. A decent model with clean data and a tight workflow can make money.

The first AI margin wins are boring: support, document processing, accounting, sales prep, recruiting ops, campaign analysis.

AI drafts, routes, checks, and cleans up the work.

Humans review exceptions.

Cost drops. Capacity rises.

But most leaders will waste the capacity.

A team saves 10 hours, then spends 8 in more meetings.

Congrats, you bought a Ferrari and drove it in a parking garage.

The sharper question:

If this role were designed today with agents available from day one, would it still look the same?

The org chart is shifting from people management to workflow ownership.

The best AI-native employees are becoming mini-GMs.

They wire tools, inspect output, catch bad answers, and improve the loop.

That’s why compensation gets weird.

If two people have the same title but one produces 5-10x more output with AI systems, they are no longer doing the same job.

Recruiting gets weird too.

The hard part is evaluating talent when AI is part of the work.

Do you grade output, prompts, taste, fundamentals, or the ability to catch bad model answers?

One point:

LLMs should not do everything.

Use software for math, rules, constraints, and calculations. Use the model for synthesis, communication, ambiguity, and judgment.

The best AI systems are less magic, more pipes.

AI makes average execution cheaper.

It makes great judgment more valuable.

Most companies play with prompts.

The serious ones redesign the machine.

If you were rebuilding your company around AI from scratch, which role or workflow would you redesign first?

The power of connection is transformative.

Put yourself in the right room & surround yourself with the right people.

Last year I joined CliffCo - a ThinkTank made up of industry experts and category leaders. I have made some incredible friends who challenge me to think differently, I have traveled the world and enjoyed once-in-a-lifetime experiences, I have grown as an leader, I have become more confident as a founder and owner, I have pushed myself outside of my comfort zone and forced myself to become better at things I needed help with, I have had opportunities come my way just because I genuinely want to help other entrepreneurs grow their businesses and am hopefully days away from turning a dream I had for myself - since I was 13 years old - into a reality. All because of this group and the people I have met from it ❤️

I am so thankful and appreciative for everyone I have met & gotten to know this past year and I can’t wait to see where the future brings us together!
