Can never go grumpy with this one 😅💚

🍵 Matcha Spotlight: @grumpymomtcha — Samidori

Aroma: Opens up with a sweetcorn-like aroma 🌽

Koicha: The umami HITS you 😮‍💨, with soft, sweet edamame notes and a hint of roastedness.

Latte: Rich umami, little to no bitterness, with a sweet, dark chocolatey character and a soft, nutty finish.

+ Sweetener: I like it as is! I didn’t really add any sweetener because, for me, it didn’t need it hehe. (SORRY 😮‍💨😅)

Mouthfeel: Medium to full-bodied — this matcha really stayed on my palate for that long, gurl 😭 Smooth, creamy, velvety, with no astringency or graininess experienced.

I especially like this with oat milk tho! Hehe. The effect of this matcha is kinda strong HAHAHA 😆🍵

My ratio for this review:
4g powder / 40g water / 80g oatmilk @oatside
(no sweetener 🤭)

🥜✨ That rich, almond-like nuttiness is what made this Okumidori stand out to me. 💚

After trying Grumpymomtcha’s Okumidori from Uji as both a latte and usucha, here are my final thoughts 👀👇

Aroma: sweet with a lovely nuttiness
Color: easily one of the most beautiful shades of green I’ve seen 😮‍💨

As a latte (70°C): Rich umami with an almond-like nuttiness that really stands out. Creamy, smooth, and comforting with no astringency and only minimal bitterness

As usucha: More vegetal and creamy, with subtle umami and just a touch of astringency.

It works really well with milk and doesn’t get overpowered, so you can still appreciate the matcha even in a latte. I’d suggest keeping the water temp around 70–75°C, though, as higher temperatures bring out more bitterness and astringency.

Overall: A beautiful Okumidori that really shines with its creamy texture, rich umami, and distinct almond-like nuttiness. Definitely one I’d enjoy reaching for when I want a smooth and comforting matcha latte 💚
