Berlin: The Ethical City
Exhibition open to GSA staff and students only.

On 27 October, Stage 5 Architecture students at the Mackintosh School of Architecture will open Berlin: The Ethical City, a collective exhibition presenting the outcomes of an intensive period of research, documentation and analysis following the Stage 5 city visit to Berlin during week 4 of semester 1.

Developed in just a few weeks, the exhibition brings together mapping, fieldwork, photography, drawings and models that record students’ first encounters with the city and the questions emerging from their investigations. Rather than presenting finished design proposals, the exhibition reveals the process of gathering, organising and interpreting information that will form the foundation of each student’s Final Design Thesis over the coming academic year.

Generously supported by GSA Sustainability, the exhibition also reflects the values of the Ethical City brief through its construction. Display materials and exhibition infrastructure have been designed for reuse, allowing them to support future reviews, exhibitions and teaching activities before being repurposed again for the Degree Show in May. In doing so, the project demonstrates how sustainable thinking can shape not only architectural proposals but also the way academic work is made, exhibited and shared.

Berlin: The Ethical City opens on 27 October at 5pm in the Grace and Clark Fyfe Gallery, Bourdon Building, and runs until 6 November. We are grateful to GSA Sustainability for supporting both the exhibition and its long-term legacy.

Everybody to Kenmure Street: Food, film screening and Q&A

Neighbours and activists rush to surround an immigration van detaining two residents in Scotland’s most diverse community. Everybody to Kenmure Street is an intense, ground-level, and ultimately joyous account of the standoff with the police and the UK Home Office. Our film celebrates collective action, looking to the stories that led to that day and the historic events that have shaped this community.

This is a fundraising event, raising funds for Central and West Integration Network, who are based locally in Garnethill, and Stand Up to Racism Glasgow hosted in partnership with GSA Community Engagement and GSA Sustainability.

Xingxi Lin, MDes Graphic Design

Awarded “Commended” in the GSA Sustainability Graduate Degree Show Prize 2026

From the GSA Showcase:

“Dear Body is a series of four editorial publications exploring women’s lived experiences of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). Developed through remote interviews with four women, the project examines how the condition intersects with body image, weight, hair, menstruation, fertility and social expectations surrounding femininity.

Rather than presenting PCOS primarily through medical information, the project centres personal voices and everyday experiences. Each publication responds visually to one participant’s story while remaining part of a shared editorial system, allowing individual identities to emerge without losing the connection between the four narratives.

Through typography, illustration, photography, collage and experimental page-making, Dear Body asks how graphic design can create a more intimate and empathetic way of representing bodies that are often judged against narrow cultural standards…”
