Des Moines, it’s been fun for now! As I get a jumpstart on the next part of Jen & my life by heading to Phoenix to start my new position tomorrow. After about 40 years of living in central Iowa, this will be a huge change for us. So thankful for all of the friends that we have and will be moving away from. We will miss you all! Here’s to trying all of the new foods that Arizona has!

Little late in the day, but wanted to wish my beautiful wife, @gualcomole a happy 14th Anniversary! I’m blessed to have such an amazing and supportive person as my best friend and wife! Thanks for supporting my love of bbq…I told you I wouldn’t start golfing or fishing…never said anything about bbq! Here’s to the rest of our lives, I’m blessed to spend the years with you! Here’s a few pics throughout the years!

Wow, what a Saturday! I was blessed to be asked to be a vendor and serve samples for the first ever @desmoinesscheels GrillFest. It was an absolutely perfect day, outside of too windy for me to get the Santa Maria fired up. We served around 750 samples of Korean short ribs, smoked pork loin, brisket style pork belly (I hate calling it that) and 35 pounds of smoked chicken wings. With all that meat, I got Millie, my @ajscustomcookers loaded down and she handled the wind beautifully! I was so lucky and blessed that my much better half, @gualcomole did so much of my paperwork beforehand and then came and helped our daughter, @carolyn_devine serve all those folks and were amazing ambassadors for CubbieHawkBBQ! My buddy Bobby came and helped me keep the fire going and helped season and sauce and slice everything! I learned a lot and can’t wait to take everything and keep improving for my next event! Thanks again to all who came out and tried all my samples and for all the feedback! Also, a special thanks to @heatherkxno and @seanrobertsradio23 for having me on @1460kxno & @kxnodrive to talk about my bbq journey! I truly appreciate it.

Oh, what a year! Happy Anniversary to my beautiful and amazing wife, @gualcomole ❤️ These past couple of years have been rough to put it mildly, but I’m so thankful that lucky number 13 has passed! Here’s to the next 13…or 50, but I’m not in a hurry! I feel blessed to have you in my life and can’t wait to see where the road takes us! Love you! Hope y’all watch our whole year, because the end has definitely finally made it! So blessed to finally be home!

My goodness! My wife has totally spoiled me! I have shown this beautiful knife a few times, but wanted to really just show it off! Custom knife with some CubbieHawkBBQ yellow pins and this knife has blown me away! @gualcomole ordered this custom blade from @barrel_falls_bladeworks for Christmas! Hitachi steel with copper Mai and this bad boy is sharp and perfectly weighted! Handle is made with some ancient bog oak, which just makes it all come together! Go give Luke with @barrel_falls_bladeworks a follow y’all!

Y’all, it’s starting to actually feel like a house again now that we got some windows in! These 250 @pellawindows are gonna be super efficient with triple pane Insulated Glass! Super excited to have gotten these in the house! Doesn’t just look like an empty box anymore! Moving forward? As my wife says, we’re a Phoenix rising from the ashes!
