This pride, with so much going on in the world and in our lives, it can be overwhelming to even exist. The world can feel lonely, when you are never seen. When you show up shattered, pieces scattering across the air, you are only a fragment in any moment. A letter where a novel should be, agape, an open mouth with no ending. And no matter how many eyes are on you, when you cannot see you - you will always feel alone. Know that you are never alone, because we always have ourselves to lean on. We can be there for ourselves. We can be our own allies, friends, and lovers - but never martyrs. We must never sacrifice ourself for ourselves. This is a sacred vow, we take now. This is a promise, we hold together. This is a life we live, as one. Excited to invite y’all to an intimate conversation with House of Gul founder, Ali Godil, and Pratt Institutes Graduate Design program. @prattinstitute @prattgradcomd This Friday at Pratt’s Professional Practices series: Ali Van Gödil Friday, April 10th, 12 - 1 PM EST / 9 AM PST Virtual - RSVP link in bio We are pleased to welcome @alitheblissful, a designer, artist, and founder of @houseofgul who will share insights from his career and perspectives on creative practice. Ali Van Godil is a designer, artist, creative director, and filmmaker working between Oregon and New York. He is the founder of House of Gül, a multidisciplinary creative studio and artistic practice that operates across commercial commissions and independent collaborations. Van Godil has led creative projects for a wide range of clients, including Nike, Adobe, Netflix, and Facebook, as well as regional and international nonprofit organizations and cultural institutions. His work moves fluidly across art, design, and film, bringing a distinct visual and conceptual sensibility to both brand and cultural contexts. His practice explores the emotional and spiritual dimensions of belonging, examining how memory, migration, landscape, and sacred tradition shape identity and inner life. Rooted in a Pakistani upbringing and informed by Islamic and Indian spiritual philosophy, his work reflects an ongoing dialogue between body and spirit, tradition and transformation. New creative direction and painting work for Society of Cloth SS26 campaign. “Lost in the Garden” Inspired by Mughal miniature paintings, my artwork served as a backdrop for this immersive world building. The divine garden of freedom acts as a bridge where models step out of the painting, moving from imagination into form. A conceptual elemental field where true lovers express themselves authentically and with total acceptance, lost in their own world. Manifesto of my creative approach. 🥲🎨🌷 Wrote an article for Tasmeem Doha @tasmeem_doha and their print fair. Tasmeem Doha is an international art and design biennial, hosted by VCUarts Qatar since 2004. @vcuqatar Resting in the Divine Void Ali Van Godil In an age of overconsumption, mass media, and accelerated capitalism, we are endlessly pulled toward more; more content, more noise, more doing. And yet, it is deeply ironic that the source of all creativity and inspiration arises not from accumulation, but from absence. To create is to bring something from nothing. The divine void is not emptiness as lack, but emptiness as field—a vast womb in which all possibility exists. When I am overwhelmed by work, inner turbulence, or the pressure of deadlines, it is not more knowledge or effort that brings resolution. Completion arrives through pause. Through resting quietly in the knowing that everything will unfold as it must. By loosening my grip on the mind, the fog lifts. The solution already exists—it simply needs space to reveal itself.
