The doors to Heirloom are Open!!! An Erotic Sanctuary for Black Women and MaGes who have left the church. @jeidakstorey has curated a space just for you! ✨🌹

I pulled some grounding cards from @grandmababyapothecary ✨ Shoutout to Tea🙏🏾
And then I talked about @sarahstankorb ‘s new book “Damned If She Does”—which my mama @gullahmama and I were interviewed for. The chapter “The Ancestors” is beautifully written, and discusses women leaving the church and reclaiming ancestral spirituality. Thank you, Sarah.
It was auspicious to receive this book and read this chapter around the same time @jeidakstorey opened the doors to an Erotic Sanctuary for Black Women and MaGes who have left the church. I’m so proud of you, girl.

There is space you!

“The South is a Portal”. -@saramakeba

Prophetic incantation for conjuring. Second Black South panel this year with top tier colleagues. Another opportunity to discuss the U.S. South as a generative space.

“Grounded in Grain, Washed in Water (curated by @ljacksonharris) explores ancestral narratives and the enduring relationships between land, water, memory, and Black life in the American South. Rooted in resilience, creativity, and connection, this exhibition explores how the past traverses the body, the land, material traditions, and acts of imagination. The artists reveal that the histories embedded in Southern soil and waterways are not static remnants of the past, but living systems of knowledge that continue to shape contemporary Black life while offering pathways toward collective futures”.

Much appreciation to the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art (@halsey_institute) + the Avery Research Center for African American History and Culture (@averyresearchcenter) for this wonderful partnership.

Swipe to view phenomenal pieces by @brobeas, @christadavid.art, @corey_alston_sweetgrassbasket, and @mayafreelon.

Meet Benyah the Creek Guardian. 🐸🌿

Gullah Gullah Island was such a special part of my childhood, and the joy the Daise family brought to sharing Gullah Geechee culture has stayed with me all these years. 💛

Benyah is my way of carrying some of that childhood wonder into Camp Geechee while creating a legend and story all his own.

Inside the Lowcountry Veil, the lands, spirits, creatures have history, purpose, and stories waiting to be uncovered and discovered! 👀

Camp Geechee: Volume 1 is on the way. 🌙
This one is for our ancestors.
