The horribly corporate / commercial side of me has editioned ten (very small) 35mm
double exposed photographs. DRIFT 1 to 10. Hand printed in my darkroom.
Intimate images 13X9cm. Each edition is limited to five. £30 a pop as they say…
Unbelievably, I have editioned a small sculpture ‘The Great Flood’… (cast lead turd with a tiny paper boat). Edition of five. Want one? Yeah of course you do! Yours for £100.
There are postcards - 12 different images. Buy a pack and post a card to your grandma?
And, the exhibition has it’s own soundtrack via a QR code in the space.
Don’t trust QR codes? There is a LINK IN BIO.

There will be ‘all sorts of things’ on display…
Damp clay (smells great). A generous quota of detritus and found stuff. Sounds / Films. Some ‘good old fashioned’ analogue photography.
Interactive (follow the bloody rules and be gentle) stuff.

🌿 Reflecting on an Inspiring Research Week🌿

Last week was our annual Research Week at the University of Leicester’s School of Museum Studies @uolmuseumstudies a much-needed reinvigoration, full of reflection, connection, creativity and culture.

It was a joy to spend time with fellow #PhD researchers, learning about the diversity of projects, engaging in thoughtful workshops, and having the space to be, with time for lunches, conversations over coffee, and dinners that deepened our sense of community.

A highlight for me was organising and participating in our field trip to Sezincote House—"India in the Cotswolds." This extraordinary Mogul-style estate, complete with temples, grottoes, and sweeping gardens—is a rich and complex site of British colonial history. It was a privilege to have Professor Corinne Fowler join us and speak to the historical narratives explored in her book Our Island Stories, offering a grounding context to our visit.

We also took part in a powerful embodiment session led by Macole, a PhD researcher from the University of Sheffield: Grounding in Change explored how we sustain resilience in times of institutional and societal upheaval, while keeping one foot rooted in academia and another in community activism. It was deeply reflective and affirming.

And yes, we even shared a traditional dinner sitting on the floor, adding another layer of meaning and cultural mindfulness to our week.

Huge thanks and respect to the organising team i was part of, we took care, balance, and thoughtfulness and created something special.

Here’s to research grounded in care, co-production, culture and community.

Dave’s Things @ theStuffstore. Documenting fashion can be an interesting insight into an individual, or society. What we wear and when we wear it, can speak volumes. Having observed the considerable changes in fashion over the last few decades, I wonder how I have eventually got to where I am? The concept of the “Supermarket of Style”, developed by Ted Polhemus in the 1990’s blending different facets of sub-culture is the starting-point. Let’s see where it goes #davestuff #thestuffstore #tedpolhemus #supermarketofstyle #subculture #streetstyle #style #styleformen #mensaccessories #mensstyle #mensstyleguide #mensfashionblogger #stockportoldtown #fashioneducation #fashioneducator

CAN013 The Sound Experience >> 🔊🔊🔊

Ingenuity - the quality of being original and inventive. Performing and using things in new exciting ways.

Funded by the @esmeefairbairn Collections Fund & @aceagrams . The project was a collaborative production between Nottingham C.A.N, @phlexxrecords , and the @justicemuseum .

The project challenged four sound producers to explore and capture the sonic qualities of the historic National Justice Museum. After spending time exploring and gathering source materials from the space the producers were tasked to work with the material and compose a range of sonic art compositions.

The project showcases these compositions via a range of looped sound installations scattered throughout the museum to the general public, and then also through hosting an evening of performances presented in the main courtroom, taking audiences through a range of sonic art compositions performed and diffused over an 8-channel speaker system.
