-Á mínu máli / En mi idioma / In my language- Shadow Puppetry – Multilingual Storytelling Workshop Last Sunday October 11th at Hafnarborg Museum, I was pleased to join 1 of a series of events aimed at increasing access to Hafnarborg for people of diverse backgrounds by welcoming guests in multiple languages. While creating our puppet characters with various materials we developed ideas for short stories which we then had perform with the help of each other, using the simple and magical means of shadow puppetry. Thankful to the organizers from GETA @geta_samtok a nonprofit organization that promotes inclusion and positive multiculturalism through a variety of events and social initiatives. So happy working together with the cohost Anne Romboch @annehaegse. #puppetry #shadowtheatre #iceland

Ljósmyndir: Vigfús Birgisson The exhibition margins opened on August 27. Úlfur and I collaboratively worked on the curation with 6 wonderful artists. The concept takes the museum space itself as its inspiration, but the idea came from all the nooks and crannies that the space has to offer, which we tend to overlook. The gaze of the visitor is therefore directed away from the traditional position of the center wall, and rather to the margin, to the ceiling, down to the floor, or towards the infrastructure of the museum itself. Please take a look at Hafnarborg! Thank you to all the dear artists who participated in this project. Thank you to the staff at Hafnarborg for a wonderful collaboration. Thank you Arnar for the beautiful catalog and design within the exhibition. Thank you to the space itself for showing us everything it has to offer. Photographs: Vigfús Birgisson

🫧 spássían / margins 27.8. – 1.11.2026 „But what about the space itself? Care is often one-directional - someone tends and something is tended to. But if things have their own agency, independent of human involvement, as Bennett describes, then this one-directional perspective no longer holds and humans must recognise things as active participants. In this sense, care is no longer only about tending to something but also about showing empathy.“ — „Listening to Space: On Empathy and the Agency of Things in the Making of Exhibitions“, Katrín Björg Gunnarsdóttir „The imperfections we cannot remove are removed for us by perception, much as imagination fills in the gaps in the imagined room. Perception and imagination work together to turn the template into reality.“ — „On the Hierarchy of Spaces“, Úlfur Bragi Einarsson The Hafnarfjörður Centre of Culture and Fine Art Iceland — the wonderful exhibition catalog, edited by @katrinbjorg @ulfurbragi graphic design / images @arnarhjartarson / @vigfusbirgisson published 2026 @hafnarborg 🎐 @aldisarn @holmarholm @thordisj_studio @overload_fail_system @hakonbraga 🫧 exhibition, curated by Katrín Björg Gunnarsdóttir & Úlfur Bragi Einarsson artists Daníel Ágúst Ágústsson

🫧 when the world feels solid,
we easily forget… the body knows.
the nervous system knows.
skin remembers. bodies of water.
spaces of air. matter moves.
matter changes. nothing exists alone.
every presence leaves a trace…
folds in a skin. what once was solid becomes dispersed.
what once was held becomes released.
what once was large becomes small. . ‚afterbodies/spatial echoes‘ digital animation, in cooperation with @distant___realities ‚soft doubles / spatial echoes’ was performed at hafnarborg by íris ásmundar and sara lind guðnadóttir. @irisasmundar @saralg01 〰️ spássían / margins 27.8. – 1.11.2026 the hafnarfjörður centre of culture and fine art, iceland @hafnarborg curated by katrín björg gunnarsdóttir & úlfur bragi einarsson @katrinbjorg @ulfurbragi works by daníel ágúst ágústsson

shiori ono 〰️ „where does space begin and end? where does the body begin and end? gabi schillig poses these questions, but rather than viewing space and body as two separate things, she looks instead at what they share. in her work, gabi explores these connections through the notion of soft architecture. in a reality where hardness so often defines political, social and ecological realities, gabi sees softness as a means of reconsidering our ideas about cohabitation and care. in the work ‚soft doubles / spatial echoes‘, she draws on tales of the icelandic ‚fylgja‘, a supernatural ghost-like entity that accompanies individuals or families, protecting rather than taking over. gabi has shaped forms referencing hafnarborg’s own architecture into a soft material, suspended in space. in this way, hafnarborg’s architecture is given its own fylgja. the accompanying video work ‚afterbodies / spatial echoes‘ carries forward the same idea: an abstract animation in which the space dissolves into points, clouds and particles, its atmosphere and air rendered as another kind of fylgja. fragile glass objects, ‚softening the edges (柔らかな境界線)‘, bring the same questions of dependence and care into another material. fragility is here presented as a form of trust, rather than weakness.“ written by katrín björg gunnarsdóttir, in „spássían/margins“ exhibition catalog, published by hafnarborg, 2026 photos 3, 19 @ulfurbragi 16, 18, 20 @kristin.s.petursdottir others @gabi.schillig
