One of the most iconic movie lines ever goes, “life move pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while you could miss it.”

As each year passes, I am finding this to grow ever more true. Life does move fast and our 🐴industry can feel like a never ending race.

This past weekend, it dawned on me. We have not taken a collective family trip in over 15 years. Also, I had not seen my extended family since I was too young to really remember any of them. They were all so excited to see and connect with all of us. I enjoyed every moment of this wedding weekend. Watching my little brother marry one of my best friends, connecting with my family, be welcomed into a new family with open arms, spending time with my little niece and nephew, and of course dancing.

I really tried hard to stay in the moment while on this trip. I find it VERY hard to turn off my work brain and enjoy life. I feel like I did an ok job this time. I need to continue to work on that so that I don’t miss these important moments.Tyler and I have already book our next trip of a lifetime to South Africa at the end of November. Which naturally stresses me out because I don’t know how to turn “work Ryan” off totally. But I just need more practice 😂.

Thank you Matt and Alex for the beautiful celebration of love and life. Alex your family is amazing and is something to idolize. I know you will bring all those qualities into our Sassmannshausen family.

Subpermittee Spotlight.
We greatly value our Subpermittees as essential assets to our organization.
Their contribution is instrumental in expanding our reach across the state, ultimately enhancing the survival rates of federally protected birds.

Thank you Hailey, Stephanie and Elizabeth for being an integral part of our mission and an important aspect of migratory bird conservation.

Splish-splash 💦
These Mallard ducklings are enjoying some pool enrichment time while in the excellent care of our Subpermittee, @hailsyeah Hailey Fynaardt

The ducklings needed fostering after they were rescued from a storm drain and their mother was hit and killed by a vehicle.

✅Our work is done with proper State and Federal permits.

The Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA) prohibits the take (including possession of, killing, capturing, selling, trading, and transport) of protected migratory bird species, their feathers, nests and eggs without prior authorization by the Department of Interior U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
