VA III artist introduction pt.1/4 The first quarter of the selection takes off from trip-hop/hip-hop and quickly moves into jazz territories. A perfect sample of what we call “Orange” — organic, upbeat, containing sunshine. Listen to the whole 19-piece compilation on all major streaming platforms today and add it to your playlists! Design by @peti__toth A true legend of the Hungarian downtempo scene, active since the ’90s and closely connected to many of its defining figures (Bernáthy Sándor, Palotai Zsolt) and labels (Future Sound Of Budapest, UGAR). His music has found its way to labels like Nuphonic, Good Looking and DJ Ease’s (of Nightmares on Wax) Wax On, Café del Mar compilations, Gilles Peterson’s BBC show, and stages across Europe. One of the great prides of the Hungarian electronic scene, whose 2013 release Blorp93 made a lasting impact on the international rave and breakbeat landscape. After releases on Unknown to the Unknown, Magicwire and !K7 and tours around the world, his sound has gradually drifted towards deeper, psychedelic territories - as heard on his collaboration with Jazzbois last year. His new studio album is scheduled for later this year, following the same aesthetic direction. Raffy Bushman is one of the highlighted artists on this compilation, and a key voice in the UK jazz underground for several years. A multifaceted pianist, he has explored various crossovers with hip-hop and classical music, including through his string quintet, NuShape Orchestra and Unit 31. Fast forward to 2026, and Raffy has returned to where he started - back with his trusted piano trio, but this time with the weight of many more years of creative and lived experience behind him. ‘Dream State’ is also featured on his debut album, ‘New Life’. Hakumba needs little introduction to our audience: the 11-piece Budapest jazz ensemble has become one of the stars of the Blue Sun family, with their The Garden EP warmly received internationally. Their energetic live shows have taken them from the Hungarian festival circuit to European showcases and as far as Australia. For this new track, they team up with Sydney-based MC/producer Skels, whose jazz-infused hip-hop an

BLUE SUN VA III IS OUT TODAY! Budapest based concept label Blue Sun arrives with the 3rd edition of their annual VA series, showcasing a colorful taste of the local underground music scene, with some international sidenotes. Following up on the label’s customs, the 19-track selection is not only released digitally, but also on a limited 200-piece cassette series. Curated by the label heads, the tracks follow Blue Sun's listening-oriented concept without genre restrictions with downtempo, trip-hop, jazz, dub, balearic, ambient, experimental, and electronica as highlights, with pieces that are more difficult to classify.  As before, instead of the usual A-B markings, the two sides are divided by the label's colors: “ORANGE” contains more organic and high-energy music, while “BLUE” contains more pensive and experimental tracks. Moreover, the selection has been carefully curated so that it can be listened to as an endless loop: the end of a side always resonates with the beginning of the other, wherever the listener begins. The list of contributing artists this year are truly various and just as impressive. From unique debuting local artists to internationally recognised performers, it gives a taste of how the Hungarian underground scene sounds like atm. Important to note, that the release marks another debut: the label’s new visual identity by Blue Sun’s new designer, Péter Tóth. RELEASE ANNOUNCEMENT Celebrating the label’s latest chapter, Blue Sun’s new compilation is the most ambitious release in the catalog so far: 19 acts (mostly Hungarian, with a few international favorites) curated into a seamless musical journey by Hanussen and Kozmo D. The palette spans downtempo, trip-hop, jazz, dub, balearica, ambient, experimental and electronica, genres that best describe the label’s boundary-free listening concept. Curated with a ‘circular listening concept’, the tracks are arranged to form an endless auditory loop—wherever the journey begins. The orange side features more organic, higher-energy cuts, while the blue side drifts into deeper, more experimental territories. This is also the first release to showcase the label’s fresh visual identity, designed by Tóth Peti. The compilation arrives on limited cassette (200 hand-numbered copies) and digitally. The cassettes will debut at the Blue Sun Showcase on 26 September at the Magyar Zene Háza, followed by gradual distribution to local and international stores. For casual listening and playlists, find it on all major streaming platforms from 21 September. Design by @peti__toth

FISHING ON ORFŰ XI - Mi fix őket küldenénk 30-ban a Vb-re! 🧤 GK - @c0_lee Amilyen mozgást lehoz a színpadon, minden sarkot be fog érni. ⬅️ LB - @30yzenekar Beck Zoliékat egyszerűen nem lehetett máshova rakni. A left back pozíció nekik volt kitalálva. 🛡️ CB - @bongorofficial Ha a japánok lefejelték a holland óriásokat, ez a feladat sem foghat ki rajta. 🛡️ CB - @ganjallo A srácok lelkesek. ⚙️ CDM - @quimby_band Jöhet a rutin. ⚽ ST - @duckshellofficial A fiúkban ott a brazil vér. Már csak be kell lőni a helyzeteket. 🇧🇷😄
