Part 2 “Public Library Kid at SPL”, photos by @remystyrk for the @halogenproject ✨. Feeling so much gratitude for this session, I see all of me. Another celebration for another year of sobriety (9 years & 4 months from alcohol) & being unapologetically QUEER. Thank you for witnessing my arrival.

🎥 IN PRODUCTION

Currently in production, RUNNING FROM / CHASING TOWARDS is a feature doc by Remy Styrk @remystyrk

LOGLINE: “In the isness of use comes a responsibility of curiosity; a command to live fully in all shades of our stories. Anything less and the isness becomes too matter of fact.”

ABOUT: RUNNING FROM / CHASING TOWARDS is a love letter to identity, ceremony, and critical reflection. This documentary film captures the energy of 15 Black and Brown trans individuals who spent their formative years (late teens to early 20s) in the pandemic and are now fighting to realign their dreams with accessible resources. Ultimately, preserving not only the human, but the softness of knowing who you are. Each person will be asked the question: “If you could hold your own hands as a stranger, what would they feel like?” In addition to the question, they will get to showcase a passion of theirs tied to their answer. @halogenproject

July is BIPOC Mental Health Awareness Month.

Founded in honor of Bebe Moore Campbell, this month recognizes the importance of equitable, culturally responsive mental health care and the ongoing work to reduce stigma and expand access within Black, Indigenous, and People of Color.

For many Queer and Trans BIPOC folx, mental health is shaped by community, resilience (including forced resilience), and culturally-rooted care practices. It is also shaped by racism, colonialism, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, and barriers to affirming care. Today, we honor the expertise, leadership, and healing practices of QTBIPOC communities while continuing to advocate for equitable, just care systems.

Day 33 Activities---

Give: Support a QTBIPOC-led organization doing work in your community. (Check out the tagged partners!)

Act: Share the Doulas for All QTBIPOC Doula Directory to help connect families with culturally responsive birth and postpartum support: https://doulas4all.org/doula-directory

Care: Take a few moments to check in with yourself—or reach out to a QTBIPOC friend, loved one, or community member with care, encouragement, or support.

i went to magnolia the other week for this three-way skill trade; i get whatever cut and style i want, modeling for the stylist, and then again for the photographer, who in turn gives license for the photos to the stylist and me. among the alternate cash-free paths i've had to find for all manner of things in order to survive for so long, which i mostly come to loathe for how inherently othering they are, this is one of the few that feels pretty completely pro-social. everyone involved is giving and receiving with joyful, easeful reciprocity. no one is making anyone do anything. we are all just being who we are, around each other.

and it looks like this.
