Taking a shelter dog out for the day is such a small thing for me, but can mean everything to the dog. A dog that gets out for the day is 5x more likely to get adopted, and I am begging someone to please make this statistic true for Whilmer. This sweet goofy boy only has this week to find a home due to overcrowding at the Fulton Shelter in Atlanta. Please go meet him.

Ellie had a super busy weekend searching for her forever family! Unfortunately she’s still looking, but she knows they’re out there. Please share Ellie to help her get adopted!

Friday we hung out at @beerwildheaven in Avondale Estates with her first foster (also named Ellie, but we now call her human Ellie). She was a good girl meeting new people and even tolerating the quick rain shower.

Saturday was her busiest day, starting with breakfast in Alpharetta where she decided she was done with me and wanted to join the table next to us at @thenestcafe. Sadly they live in Nebraska so said they couldn’t adopt, even when I said she’s great in the car. We then went to Ormewood Park Makers Festival @ormewoodparkfestival to see our friend Cards by Kake @cardsbykake. Ellie ate a hat but luckily KK loves dogs so she forgave us. Our day ended at the Kirkwood Spring Fling where we ran into fellow foster Otto with his foster Deb @lifeline_foster.

Sunday Ellie spent the afternoon with human Ellie again visiting different stores including @citydogmarket and @brickstorepub.

Pina Colada is 2 yrs, 7 months old, friendly, affectionate, loves people. She’s choosy about her dog friends, plays rough with cats so she may do best as an only pet so she’d get all the love. She’s house trained , loves hugs & kisses. Unfortunately, she’s in a shelter euthanizing for space. Can you help?

Mom here. Riley was definitely not herself her last two days. When she had little interest in her breakfast, we knew the time had come. Sable, ever the momma dog, was keeping watch over her. She and Ginny got to say goodbye and sniff her after she had passed. The corner with Riley’s bed sure feels empty today. Fly free, Riley Roo Dooster Doo! 🌈

Rowdy shelter dog gets a jail break!

Meet Griffin, a young malinois/gsd mix. This dude has been given up on (several times) due to his mouthy, boisterous behavior. The shelter is just no place for a working breed to show their worth. Griffin quickly deteriorated being in a kennel run with little interaction and soon became very reluctant to go back in after his potty breaks as he knew his “fun” was over. This behavior escalated into biting the leash and redirecting on handlers when being brought back into his kennel. As you can imagine, being spun up in a kennel run and hard to deal with is no ticket to freedom at a full shelter. So here we are… day 1 of his jail break and this boy has already shown his willingness to learn, play, and respect boundaries.

Griffin will be here for a bit to get some training and hopefully find his new home or a foster willing to continue with him until he’s adopted. I’ve seen nothing but a great dog so far and I know he’s going to be a rockstar with a sprinkle of trust and structure. Griffin’s adoption fee is already covered and his adopter will receive training support to ensure he’s set to thrive in a forever home. Stay tuned for more progress videos!
