I LOVE BREAKFAST BURRITOS

Dija Mara

Still thinking about my experience at @dija.mara this past Saturday.

I had of those meals where each dish hits and you immediately start planning what you’ll be ordering next time. Bold Balinese fusion flavors. A little unexpected in the best way. Both elevated and super approachable.

It’s the kind of place where you can easily go from “let’s just order a few things” to wanting one of everything from the entire menu.

The pork belly skewers, roti, beef rendang, charred eggplant, green curry mussels, and the mushroom dish were all excellent, as well as the wine selection. I am already planning my return for the whole fish!

If there’s one thing I’ve learned since we open our shop is that sometimes is the people that hardly know you, that life puts on your path; show you the greatest display of support! April has been incredible to us from the moment we met. Michael and I talked about how much we loved her work and fantasize that she would draw our place one day. Today we are so honored to have two of her prints. We love and appreciate you so much from your beautiful soul to your incredible talent. Thank you! @handdrawnrestaurants

I’ve been dreaming about New York a lot lately, and today it’s all about that pastrami on rye from @katzsdeli

Steamy, peppery, and piled high, it’s the kind of sandwich that lives rent free in my memory. Until I’m back in line with a ticket in hand, this drawing will have to hold me over.

Ayara Thai Cuisine

Before you hit the 405 on your way home... Before the travel chaos… and definitely before the overpriced airport food… Make a stop at Ayara.

Tucked away on 87th just off Sepulveda Blvd. in Westchester, a meal at Ayara is one of my favorite travel hacks, before or after a flight out of LAX. The whole branzino, the Khao Soi, and the Chinese broccoli with crispy pork belly added are absolutely superb.
