We always knew James St North was dog-friendly - but until a recent visit we didn't realize just HOW dog-friendly, and how close to our Puppy Dog Picnic site at Strachan Linear Park!

So, to help you make Saturday the ultimate dog-friendly Hamilton day, we've put together this little guide. We've verified 22(!) dog-friendly spots - shops, patios and more - right near the picnic, most on a very walkable route along James St North! Perfect for a pre- or post-event crawl 🛍️🍻, or the perfect excuse to return back to the area another day.

We've done our best to capture and verify every dog-friendly business we can find, but if we missed anybody, please let us know in the comments so everyone can find them, and we'll be sure to add to the next guide!

We're also updating our Dog-Friendly Summer Map 🗺️ (link in bio) with these spots for Saturday so that you'll have them when you're in the neighbourhood.

Looking forward to seeing you and your pup at Puppy Dog Picnic on Saturday! 🐶 Advance booking for our free picnic blanket spots closes at 6PM Friday ⏰ (to give us time to get ready), so if you want a guaranteed spot, head to Eventbrite via the link in our bio.

Three techniques I’d never tried, two yarns, one pair of socks, zero disasters (barely). Turkish cast-on turned out to be my favourite, short rows weren’t so scary after all, and colour work became necessary once yarn chicken started.
Pattern: Soda Water by @sio2_yucca
Yarn: Lemon Meringue & Grey Gardens (heels), both by @skeinstudy
Emotional Support: @jwylee @handknityarn
Already planning when I get to wear them.

Today my tour de fleece is officially over!

I’ll be pet sitting for a friend this next week so I powered through and finished my last two braids this weekend. I’ll be taking all of this yarn with me to turn into hats and winter headbands!

All the fibre I used if from @fireflyhavenfibre @3dogknits @tkfibresandmore and a little grey dyed by myself to match some rolags.

The Twigs sweater by @junko.okamoto using Tukuwool Fingering. Lots of work but worth the effort. Thanks @lauralauraso for the photos. #thetwigssweater #twigssweater #tukuwoolfingering
