Javelin isn't just about how hard you can throw. It's a full sprint into a release with the force all going perfectly through the tip , repeated on command, nine events into a two-day competition, with your whole body already running on empty. At the 2026 Women's Decathlon World Championships presented by Amy Park and Paul Sieben, Esther Condé-Turpin's arm remembered how to do exactly that. Her 43.64m was the best throw of the entire field, and it did more than win the event: it closed a gap that had opened up, cutting what was a 166-point deficit on 5th place down to just 15. Nikki Boon continued on after pole vault ended with a broken jaw and multiple broken teeth. She didn't have her best javelin, but she didn't need to. Discus is a full-body argument with physics. A spin through the ring, a release timed to the millimeter, and then a wait, watching the disc hang in the air, to find out if any of it worked. At the 2026 Women's Decathlon World Championships presented by Amy Park and Paul Sieben, Noémie Desailly showed exactly what nerves of steel look like. Her first two throws landed out of the sector. She stepped in for her third and final attempt and landed 39.65m, good for 2nd in the event. Roséva Bidois won the event outright at 44.19m. But the decathlon isn't won on any single throw, run, or jump. Day 2 of the 2026 Women's Decathlon World Championships presented by Amy Park and Paul Sieben opened with the 100m Hurdles, and Esther Condé-Turpin began the day with a world best of 13.39. The decathlon opened with the 100m presented by Hettas in the fastest women's decathlon 100m dash of all time—and it didn't wait for anyone to catch their breath. Esther Condé-Turpin won it in 11.80, a new world record. She wasn't running alone at the front: four women broke 12 seconds in the same race, and three of them ran faster than the previous world record.
