Man, shout out to Riley. Full time. I spent a significant amount of time with this dude. Within 3 hours of landing Riley picked me up to go to Kapu rehearsal and we just cruised majority of my time there. Riley is a solid man and has some really good selection. It’s funny cause we talked about how it’s better to be behind the camera and stuff but the spotlight on now.

Riley wicked with the camera. I look forward to him sharing his works at some point.

Means a lot to me that he went out of his want to grab me and stuff. On top of all of that, last minute he flew to Maui with me. What a 24 hours that shit was. Delayed flights, 3 hours of sleep, humidity peaking, randomly running into Rexie at the Airport. That was a fun fuckin day. We went all over together. Up to check Sluggy, down to Maui Mood, searched 3 spots of disposables cause I ran out then did a full night of music.

Man slid to everything I did over there. It was on some music shit but it became personal. I rate this dude a lot. Learned a lot about photography from him. The conversations were deep. From where we’re at in life as men, music, productions, sound system and all that. Ratings are forever.

He’s in the progress of building a sound out there as we speak. Hopefully that’s gets finished and I catch a flight to play on it.

Anyways, the day in Maui along with just cruising on Oahu is truly what fills my soul from music. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, it’s this shit that is more fun to me than anything.

Spent some time with Gumby whilst on Oahu.

What you’re seeing in the first photos are original acetate dubplates from the 70s and 80s never released. Back in 2024 he played a few for me in the short time I was over the by the studio that really blew me away and this time topped that one. Heavy stuffs.

While I was kickin it over there and fortunate enough to hear some new stuff on the way. Stay tuned for that.

The day prior Gumby, Miss Lulu and myself did Aloha Got Soul. Gumby’s selection is top notch. I kept thinking, man I wish the homie Wadadah was here cause Gumby would’ve only played like 5 songs in the hour cause we’d be yelling for pull ups. That’s my kinda session. The musical knowledge runs deep with this guy. His collection is extensive almost across the board. The recall is impressive and I appreciate the dedication and most of TIME it takes to learn and keep learning.

Anyways my last day we all went out to eat and I got reason about Oahu, Okinawa migration and history in Hawaii and just regular stuff at dinner for a couple hours. Was a really nice time.

I swear, I love djing and playing music, but the best times are the low key times just chilling post gigs or on a random week night. I don’t pull my phone out for shit like that and neither should you. It’s gay.
