You shouldn’t have to follow a sport to know when South Africans are doing something exceptional in it.

Paddling has been part of my life for around 30 years. These results mean a lot when you know the people, the clubs and the families behind them. But they deserve to travel well beyond our paddling circles.

So this one is about giving this team their moment. To everyone who raced for South Africa in Spain, and the people who helped get them there — there’s a lot to be proud of. 🇿🇦

World Ocean Ski Champs 2026 Spain🌎🌊

A World Champs that exceeded all expectations!☺️Huge credit to the Spanish for putting on an unforgettable event, with record-breaking entries!🙌🏼

4th overall in the singles, just 7 seconds off the podium!🥹Massive congrats to Jemma, Kira and Rosie on their podium finishes💪🏼It was an honour to race against such an incredibly strong women’s field and be part of a record-breaking number of female entries. The future of our sport is looking so bright!🤩

🥈in the mixed doubles the following day with the legend himself @hankmcgregor ! An unforgettable highlight of the week! Dicing it out at the front in tough, technical, flat conditions and fighting right to the finish, missing the world title by just 4 seconds! Congrats to Cory and Jemma on the win👏🏼🔥

A special shoutout to my dad, who did an incredible job as national team manager despite a serious cycling accident the week before. So grateful he could still be there to support me and the team🇿🇦❤️

Two time world champion. Still sinking in.

The first one was a dream. The second one hits different.

It’s only now, looking back, that I realise how much this title means to me. Coming back and doing it again makes it all feel even more special.

A lot of hard work, sacrifices and belief go into moments like these.

A huge thank you to everyone who’s been part of this journey and supported me along the way. This wouldn’t be possible without you.

Sharing the podium with legends of the sport makes it even more special. What an honor to be up there on the podium together.

A hard fought Silver medal at ICF Open Ocean Racing World Championships!

@jade.wilson.__ along with her SS2 Mixed Doubles partner Hank MacGregor where locked in a tight four boat battle where mere seconds separated them after 20 kilometres of racing. After one hour and seven minutes of racing it was just ten seconds that separated the podium places with Jade and Hank painstakingly close to the title which was won by the Australians.

This is redemption for Jade who narrowly missed out yesterday in the Open Women’s SS1 in a sprint finish where she was just beaten into fourth. The silver medal will be added to her growing tally of World Championship podium medals across the various disciplines of paddling including her u23 Open Ocean Racing World Title SS1 in 2021.

No off days, Jade now makes her way to Argentina, switching crafts and preparing for the Canoe Marathon World Championships in two weeks time.
