Day 1-2: I had such a wonderful time being part of the @apiahip 2026 National Forum here in Colorado! ❤️

More than 250 attendees came together for four days of workshops, tours, and conversations focused on preserving Asian and Pacific Islander American history and the places that tell our stories.

I was especially honored to present alongside @capu_2021 Joie and @historycolorado Yadira about Big Dreams in Little Saigon and share the story of our Little Saigon community and Far East Center.

It was so meaningful to see our community included in a national conversation about historic preservation and why protecting these places matters for future generations.

So grateful to @apiahip and everyone who helped bring this incredible forum to Colorado. ❤️

Team CAPU is coming in strong at @apiahip this week! We’re so excited to co-host this national convening, and share with Asian & Pacific Islander historical preservationists across the country the amazing things we got going on here. Here are just some of CAPU’s team, board, and volunteers that are presenting this week.

We are also so grateful that we were able to help some of our amazing community partners put together panels to share their work. It’s not everyday that national Asian Pacific Islander convenings happen in Colorado, but though our numbers may be lower, our impact is clear.

From @raulpazpastrana :

After reflecting on the last five sessions — which ended with an amazing showcase at the Sie Center highlighting Colorado’s talent with stories from the Navajo Reservation to the Rosebud Reservation, and a lot of Colorado in between — we’re now starting to work on the next round.

For our upcoming Around the World project, we’re putting together:

3 film + other media work sessions (think books, essays, poems, or songs): to go deep down the creative rabbit hole
3 hands-on workshops: to get better at our craft.
We want to hear from you:

What workshops would you be excited to attend?
What skills do you think our local film community needs most?
If you have an idea for leading a session or workshop, let us know — we’d love to support you.
Please submit the questionnaire as soon as possible so we can start organizing the sessions, workshops, and the final showcase that accompanies the series.

Looking forward to hearing from you all and to continuing to learn about the art of cinema together! (Link in bio)

We are so grateful to everyone who showed up on Sunday for the first of many Nhà open houses. Josh and I have been hosting pop-ups for our community in our home for years, this was just the first time it had a name. Kiddos made buttons and art in our backyard while their parents grabbed coffee close by. Neighbors added stickers and sticky notes to our community vision board, sharing what’s working on their block and what isn’t, things I wouldn’t have known to ask about otherwise. A few of you registered to vote or checked your registration right in our living room, and so many left ready to tell your own neighbors that change is coming to District 2, Far Southwest Denver. Watching all of that happen at our house, on a regular Sunday, is exactly why we wanted to do this. Thank you for showing up.

Our friends, District 2 neighbors, and small business owners who made the day so special. @migascoffeeco kept everyone caffeinated. @vinhxuongbakery brought bánh cam that disappeared in minutes. @kimhauceramics shared her beautiful ceramics. @joshuawills put on an art show that had people stopping mid conversation. @harveyparkflowers brought color to the afternoon. And DJ @marika_e_clark set the vibes for the day. We couldn’t have asked for better neighbors.

There were so many great conversations about what’s working on your block, what isn’t, and what your family actually needs. That’s why we’ll keep bringing these community vision boards to events through next April, because I want to hear from as many neighbors as possible, from Mar Lee to Marston. District 2 deserves a representative who puts our priorities front and center on Denver City Council, not just during election season.

If you missed Sunday, there’s more planned. And if you stopped by and want to keep talking, just send me a DM, I read every message and would love to meet you for coffee.

Thank you again for trusting us with your Sunday. ☀️

Colorado Dragon Boat Film Fest Recap! We had an incredible weekend with @codragonboat at @thedenverfilm Sie FilmCenter 🎞️ What’s on our highlight reel?

Seeing our partners from the “Adoptees in Dialogue” project on the big screen during the short film showcase. ❤️

Watching folks experience our Denver’s Chinatown past + future virtual reality pop up for the first time. So cool seeing the past come to life through animated historic photos from descendant families and dreaming of what’s next. 💭

Laughing and crying through films created by our community, snacking to our hearts content, and seeing some truly fire fits!! 🥟🪭🍡

Thank you to everyone who made this weekend possible for reminding us how STRONG and CREATIVE our community is when threads of connection bring us together. 🫶
