What if happiness is not something you find, but something you stop outsourcing?

It is so easy to place our joy in the hands of another person, a future achievement, or a circumstance we cannot completely control.

One of the biggest takeaways from my conversation with happiness coach Aissa Thalia was the reminder that cultivating happiness from within does not mean ignoring anger, sadness, grief, or struggle. It means allowing ourselves to move through those emotions without making our peace entirely dependent on what happens outside of us.

🎙️ Happiness as a Manifestation Tool: Frequency, Gratitude & Authentic Joy with Aissa Thalia is back as part of our Happiness relaunch wherever you get your podcasts.

I’ve been sitting with everything that’s happening in the world.

And I won’t lie, there’s a part of me that feels the weight of it deeply. When something real and painful is happening, it can make this whole actor conversation feel small. Auditions. Careers. Momentum.

All of it.

I felt that.

Comment SUMMIT and I’ll send you details to attend.

I also know this position well.

If I move forward like nothing is happening, people feel that too.

If I acknowledge it, there’s always a risk someone assumes intention that isn’t there.

So I took a breath and asked myself the only question that actually matters:

Does this work matter?

And the answer is yes. It always has.

Art has never been separate from the world.

And art has always been political.

Art is how we build empathy.
It’s how we feel someone else’s life for a moment.

How we understand experiences that aren’t our own.

That’s the job.

Tomorrow, Day 1 of the Think Bigger Actors Summit begins.
Not in denial.

Not pretending everything is fine.

And not quietly backing away from the work either.

We start with a kick-off call tomorrow at 10am PST, where I’ll be teaching The Difference Is You: How to Keep Your Mind in the Game.

Then you’ll hear from a therapist, casting, a showrunner, coaches, and working artists having honest conversations about what it takes to keep going right now.

I can’t wait to see you in the room.

Comment SUMMIT and I’ll send you details.

This one’s about getting organized and actually finishing things.

Brian Patacca on making agents chase YOU. Corrie Legge’s workbook for people with too many ideas and not enough follow-through. A free list of 300 developmental managers (yes, really).

If you’re tired of spinning your wheels, this carousel will fix that.

Comment “BANG” for the link.

$1 per signup goes to Dogs of Chernobyl. Let’s feed some dogs while we’re at it.
