This moment is forever ingrained in my mind and heart from the Ethereal Reset 🧜🏼‍♀️

Creating expansive, easeful spaces with other women has been one of the most powerful experiences of my life.

Anthropologists trace women gathering to matrilineal villages and lunar-based calendars where women gathered to raise children, share stories, bleed, celebrate, process, grieve — all of it!

Research shows that when women gather in safe, supportive environments, it activates a biological stress response known as “tend-and-befriend.”

Unlike the more familiar fight-or-flight response, tend-and-befriend encourages connection, cooperation and caregiving, and it’s particularly prominent in women. It may be one of the reasons women tend to live longer than men!

This response is driven by oxytocin, a hormone that promotes bonding, trust and nervous system regulation.

When oxytocin rises:
→ Cortisol (stress hormone) decreases
→ Serotonin increases (mood and well-being)
→ Heart rate, blood pressure and inflammation go down
→ Nervous system regulation improves

Common side effects ALSO include: mild to intense transformation, healthy emotional expression, creative breakthroughs, laughter, shedding, the feeling of being seen, supported, and safe. And the activation of mermaid-like behavior 🥲

Tend-and-befriend responses only emerge when we feel emotionally safe and supported. That’s what makes spaces like this so powerful.
