Chicago Marathon weekend is here, and we’re teaming up with @salomon to bring an afternoon of house music to Bucktown. Join Motherboard for six hours of music from four of Chicago’s rising DJs, right inside the Salomon store. Whether you’re gearing up for race day or just looking for a reason to get out, stop by, catch a set, and spend the afternoon with us.

Tomorrow, 12–6 PM at @salomon Bucktown. All are welcome.

Chicago is blessed with some of the most talented DJs in the country - I’d put money on that. With Sunday’s showcase, my curatorial mission is to show Black queer crowds how to critically honor this art form, which has been one of our ancestral lifelines through hardship. As you listen to each set, ask yourself:

- What about the DJ’s decisions motivates me to move? What might be their goal with each track?
- How are they keeping the crowd’s temperature in mind? Does this set feel tailored to the audience in some way?
- How is the pace of the set? Not just the BPM of one track, but how do they slow down or speed up over time?
- How are their transitions? What connections are they making across the set?
- What genres are in their repertoire and how might they speak to one another?
- Did this DJ introduce you to a new track or mix a track in a new way? Does the DJ rely on nostalgia or familiarity?

Special shout out to PG’s own DJ Rulito @beauxho, opening up our pre-show mixer tonight at 7pm. DJ @nxtlvl is on at 8pm tonight.

The rest of our incredible cohort is excited to show you what they’ve got for Sunday! $10 tix are still available, benefiting black queer mutual aid 🌹

Black queer DJs – particularly those who are dark-skinned, disabled, fat, and/or femme – are not afforded the same access to opportunities, resources or infrastructure as their non-Black counterparts. AMPLIFY seeks to correct that with a festival-style showcase celebrating Black queer DJs and centering Black queer crowds.

Friday, July 3rd, we’re inviting Black queer DJs, producers, and space makers to a pre-show mixer designed for playful connection, featuring opening sets by @beauxho97 and @nxtlvl.sh.t

Sunday, July 5th, we’ll be showcasing 11 more DJs on two simultaneous stages, along with a community resource fair, tooth gemz and grillz by @jem.junkies and a bespoke photobooth by @tonals.corner

Our 2026 cohort includes:

@adoniabree
@bonitaappleblunt_
@sherellbee
@dyaspara
@harle.m
@i.am.lovemarie
@mobeethicc
@ndulgnce
@pettymogul
@sukigeez

Houston’s @hyperfem.me will close out the showcase. Their high-energy club sets highlight Black + queer artists across the globe. Featuring funk, disco, juke, ballroom, house, and hip-hop, they craft each set with intention, threading together Black dance music from techno to trap.

As HYPERFEMME reflects, “Black people just party differently.” They honor the dance floor as a Black queer oasis - “clubs can be shelters for innovation, connection, and celebration when we run them.”

Innovating, connecting, and celebrating Black queer talent is exactly what AMPLIFY was designed to do. Come ready to dance. Be prepared to feel pure love.

the week of my 30th, i traveled to chicago to participate in my third exhibition and artist talk within the past year. it was a very cathartic experience. feeling the tenderness and raw emotions that come around birthdays regarding mortality. i couldn’t help but to think of my little cousins Tay and Ni’Asia who weren’t able to see their 21st or 26th birthdays. i couldn’t help but to think of the 12 year old version of me that so desperately wanted to disappear and struggled to envision what kind of future could hold me. i clap for her and protect her softness with my present fire. this is only the beginning of the rest of this beautiful, haunting and healing life. thank you to @harle.m for including my work in “Too Tender Headed”. thank you to Ninel for trusting me to help bring your vision of “The Wayward Heiress: The Antithesis of The Southern Belle” to life, thank you to my bestfriend @bettercallfev for allowing me to photograph such a pivotal time in your journey of gender excavation, and thank you to a lonely me in my brooklyn bedroom in 2022 for making something from that longing to be felt and seen. i’m so grateful for the homies who showed up to support me from far and wide. 🤍
